I mean, you have all the neccessary weapon sources; as well (considering if 2x2 units were allowed) Hunters being controllable. Drones for flying units (as well as jetpack elites). Grunts for Sectoids; And Flood for Chryssalid (once that can be implemented).
To me, it spells fun, if it can be pulled off. Also, Master Chief can fly. The different races with the troops can serve well too; considering how ethnic Halo is, as well as X-com.
Think it over. Like the description says though; I fear a lawsuit; but think of how fun it could be to Halo fans that play this. heck, you could even replicate some locations via modding level designs and randomization.
Of course, it would be last man standing-ish, like X-Com is anyway.

They were talented nonetheless though; very close to the original.
I still think it would be a funny idea. Some talented artists here and there, and a little tweaking of the stats... I see it possible. Even with ufo2000 as it is.

BTW: I dont think your legally alowed to utilise any part of the original game in the mod - copyright infringement

This is the legality of the situation. You may make a mod for such a thing, but there are stipulations. For one, it is a separate project, meaning that no developers from ufo2k are/will be responsible in the creation of this mod. You will have to create this by yourself or with a separate group (not to mention that you NEED to make every piece of your remake from scratch if you don't want legal pressure from the owners) other than the developers. This is not meant to be taken with hostility, because I am just laying out the legality of the situation. I myself, a developer, will NOT part take in any such mod because of legal issues, and I doubt many will for the same reason. I know that you think it sounds "nice" but since this is one of the most popular games in the game console era, resulting in mods at this given time is not a good idea. I am just trying to prevent any legal issues happening to fans trying to do something. In fact, this game is "UFO2000" is a remake of the original X-COM, but the owner/owners of this project has received full permission from its original owners...but this is not a popular game of "this" era, and the former developers are more "willing" to allow a remake due to its age and they been disbanded over the years. My advice is to wait until such a game is out of its "era" then ask permission. That is all I have to say for now...
In the mean time, I hope you enjoy UFO2k and these forums.

Considering I'm not a programmer, and my gaming art needs some skill building; all I can do right now is pop a few ideas here and there.
At least anyone else that reads this would understand that cartain ideas are best not done just yet.
I wish the best of luck for ufo2000 anyway. I love it. Hope to see you in the battlefields.
Plus: Thanks to reading the webcomic-ish styling of someone's game (with member hiring); and the concept of 'cloning', I've gotten around to playing the original Xcom game again. I forgot how hard that game is.

I don't think you could get a lawsuit for making a mod.
Trust me, you can. The best way to avoid it is to ask for permission first - a lot of developers are flattered that you're willing to do it. Others aren't so happy. Either way, its better to be safe than sued.
