What is the blast radius of a proximity grenade?

It depends on what suit of armour you are wearing and which facing is pointing towards the blast, but the proxy has a 6 tile blast radius (or a 13 tile diameter), with the very edge doing between 5 - 15 damage.

I suppose you might stand near a PG in a flying suit and not incur any damage... but there are those mysterious "damage modifiers."

Does the blast area form a square (the area includes corners of a square 13 tiles on each side) or some kind of a circle?

The blast area for an explosion is a circle, or as close as you can get to a circle with tiles.
