Server Statistics Page

Everything I want to know is there already; good job Serge :)

ELO is a rating system that takes the strength of your opponent into account: basically you would gain more points for beating stronger players, and not gain much for picking on weaker players. It's originally for chess but works well for most two player games.

The wikipedia article is more in depth:

How about stats on the scenarios used (Deathmatch, Assassination, Search and destroy)?

Yea, i like that idea, only very intelligent ppl would suggest something like that!

[cough]

umm...how 'bout something like...Blah, blah blah!

...And what is most played game mode...

[/cough]

I am missing a statistics, how long a player had to wait until he could play. That is to know how long i should plan i have to wait when i am going online ;)

But please differ between versions! A differed statistics about the time-of-day would be great.

Scenario: I am going online. In middle a player has to wait 20 minutes. But i am going online at a time of less activity, so the server says: At this time the people in past had to wait 2 hours to play.

Further it would be nice if i could see all of this statistics on a statistics page (e.g. results.php), so i can look and see, that the "rush hour" of ufo2000 is at e.g. 15 o'clock. So i can return at that time.

Maybe it would be interesting to see, how many points/soldiers were used by the players.

In former times I had often less soldiers than my opponents, because I gave my soldiers to many/expensive things with them.

The number of rounds also might be interesting. (I saw a report of a game played about 5 hours. What did they do in this time?? :huh?:)

Oh! Oh! I'm sorry, this isn't for the results page, but for the status page, I tried creating something like this in ajax, but I don't know ajax, so I failed. If the status page title said how many players are in server chat, and refreshed every 15 seconds (maybe a dropdown box to select how long, disabled by default)it would be nice. You could have a firefox running and telling you stuff through the start bar (since the title is displayed there)

Hello out there.

I have a more special question concearning the score-List.

In about 4 weeks I will have to join the army. My problem is the following: The players in the list are removed, if they didn't play within the last 15 days. When I will be at the army, it will probably the case that I'm not at home for more than the 15 days. And I will surely not be able to play, when I'm at the army. My question is: Are the scores remembered, a player had riched? If it's not, my ELO-score will be lost. :(

So it might be good, if there was a scorelist that shows the actual situation (like that one, that is used currently), and a list that shows ALL players and their scores, who have played UFO2K, yet. Or that a player is remembered, but after 15 days being idle not shown any more, until he plays again.

I think frequency of use of weapons would be useful as a gauge for balancing. I realise that this would be dependent on the weapon set but since the UFO2000 set is the most widespread we might as well consider that the de-facto weaponset.

Saturn, ELO scores are stored indefinitely. But only the results for the players who have played recently are shown. Most of my ELO comes from beating Hobbes a couple of times a VERY long time ago.

Then I'm QUITE relieved! =b This solves the problem completely. Thanx for the reply. ^_^

EDIT: What about the idea with the list of ALL players? Yesterday I played against someone, who didn't play for about one year. He's listed with only one game (that one I played against him). The ELO is remembered. The game-statistics (won/draw/lost) are not remembered? Would be fine, if it was so.

Something additonally, I wanted to ask: How exactly is the ELO calculated? Yes, I know the Wikipedia-article, but I don't know the "k" for example. I did the calculation for a game, I had today. But if the "k" fits my score, it doesn't fit the score of my opponent. So either the "k" is not a constant number, or there's something different from that way shown at Wikipedia.

EDIT: OK, I opened a new topic for that.
