I thought maybe we should make a thread for building related Problems and errors in the XNA branch instead of having it in several different threads...

So first thing: it seems I am not able to build the recent svn version (1816)
don't know if it's just me.

I confess, I'm a bit confused here. What SHOULD happen is MS Build uses the list of string resources (strings.resx in Xenocide\Rresources) to build a class that holds all the strings. (Resources\Strings.Designer.cs) Now, prior to build 1798, we checked in changes to this file, however in build 1798 I figured out how to get MS Build to automatically build this .cs file, and removed it from svn. (You might recall we had issues as the different language versions of C# completely rebuilt this file.)
I note that all the strings that are missing are ones that were added after this change, so I surmise you've got an old version of Resources\Strings.Designer.cs.
Things to try.
  • Instead of using "build" on the menu, use "rebuild all". This should get the build script to regenerate all files.
  • If that fails, delete Resources\Strings.Designer.cs and try rebuild all. This will either fix the problem or completely break everything, as the unless the build regenerates the file the class will be missing and it won't find any strings at all.
  • Worst case, I can put Resources\Strings.Designer.cs back into SVN, and we live with the problems that causes.

Saving the world from the scum of the universe is hard work. Especially when you have to create the scum to begin with.

The latest version worked fine for me, I presume it's a "rebuild all" issue. In addition, there's another method that works (although it's painful), which is to delete everything and redownload the whole SVN. That's like saying "My computer printed an error, I'll format the drive to correct it", well it worked for me last time that I couldn't see the battlefield

Guys, I might be stupid, but not that stupid ;)
The errorlog I posted was already from a "rebuild all" (see the first line of the error dump).

The problem was indeed the "Resources\Strings.Designer.cs". Deleting it and rebuilding all fixed the problem. Thanks for the help! =b :)
