C Sharp + Ogre

Ahem, sorry for thinking out loud, but it's something I just had to share...

http://www.ogre3d.org/wiki/index.php/OgreDotNet

OgreDotNet is a set of Binding and CIL Wrapper dlls for Ogre3D and related projects, targeting the .NET Framework or mono

http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/axiomengine/roadmap

Open-source, cross-platform 3D rendering engine for .NET and Mono. The Axiom Engine is a high-performance C# port of the powerful OGRE engine and provides full support for DirectX, OpenGL and XNA.

Could OGRE solve our current battlescape (and/or performance) issues? I also recall the C++ branch had a working 3d baseview.

P.S. Actually, I thought about that after looking for CeGUI# and similar libraries, after a small discussion I had with gu35s. I found MyGUI and QuickGUI, and then found out about the above 2 engines.

Axiom has progressed very well, the last version I recall was 0.3 LOL.

Short answer, at this point in time, I don't think OGRE or Axiom would help us much, as we've already got most of the framework going (Loading models, UI, display of scene, etc.). They're frameworks like XNA (although much more extensive frameworks.) However, I don't think they've got a "terrain engine" that meets our needs for the battlescape. (OTOH, I could be wrong, if you can point one out to me that will work, I'll certainly give it a good looking over.
