MosFet777
This seemed like the most logical place to post this. I created a new weaponset, replaced a pre-existing one with it and it worked perfectly. I restored the original, created a new folder for mine, and made sure the file info was correct(afaik) The game reads the set in(it's selectable in the F5 menu), but all of the values are the original default values even though the file has all of my data. Am I missing something obvious?
Sporb
yes - the guns must have the same name of another weapon in the game. you must select a name that is not currently in use or the values will mix up
MosFet777
I'll try that. Thanks sporb.
Fomka
Hello all!I tried to describe the most easy recognizable weapon of UFO2000 - the Grenade Launcher (it picture is like M79 - USA grenade launcher from year 1961)This is the "Jagged Alliance" style description - with double adjectives. Weapon set: UFO2000 (Conventional)Weapon: Grenade LauncherDescription:This light-weighted shoulder-fired single-shot weapon is used to launch a grenade - small (40 millimeter's in diameter) shell filled with CS Gas or High Explosive. The purpose of grenade launcher is to deliver grenades at farther ranges with increased accuracy in comparison with the limits of human throwing ability. The main drawback of this weapon is it's big reload time - grenades are reloaded manually, one per shot. Cons: 1) I'm uncertain with the "40mm CS GAS grenade" - what is CS? 2) This description does not cover the history of the weapon - only functionality (history is in post below). 3) No story of appearance in UFO2000 (need to compose).Pros: 1) Short 2) Double adjectives sounds impressive for me Edited September 25, 2006 by Fomka
Sporb
i think CS gas stands for Chlorobenzlmalonitrile(sp) gas or somthing - its used in riot control and makes one feel extremely bad while under its effects.
th15
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CS_gas 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile (chemical formula: C10H5ClN2) I've been exposed to this as part of military training. We were required to enter a chamber containing the stuff in a gas mask, take off and replace the mask then finally report rank name ID number with eyes open before leaving the chamber. It works by reacting with sweat from your body and produces this terrific burning sensation. You also start tearing and leaking from your nose uncontrollably. It's not fun, especially since exposed skin will be affected as well, not just your facial orifices. Of course one must wonder what effect it may have on aliens since sectoids probably don't have sweat glands. Fomka
History of grenade launchers (up to standalone shoulder-fired GL) At the earliest stages of the development of firearms, many armies used so called "hand mortars" – basically, the smoothbore muskets with shortbarrel of very large caliber, which was used to fire standard grenadesat ranges beyond the limits of human throwing ability. During the First World War most nations started to use so called "rifle grenade launchers"....The key problem with a rifle grenade is that when ready to fire, it effectivelyblocks the standard operation of the rifle. That means that if the shooter with a grenade in place has to fire his rifle in an emergency (e.g., if an enemy popsout in front of him), he should first either remove or launch the grenade, whichwill take time and may cost him his life. To solve this problem, many countries developed and adopted so called "underbarrel grenade launchers"....The infantry [assault] rifle is used only as a host firearm, providing the stockfor the grenade launcher. First developed between the wars in Italy and Japan, the underbarrel launchers appeared in their modern shape in the late 1960s, both in theUSA and in the USSR....The post-war period saw a short period of renaissance of the stand-alone grenade launchers, similar in basic idea to the "hand mortars" mentioned above. ... In the postwar period, several countries developed single-shot, shoulder-fired grenade launchers, usually of40mm caliber, which actually preceded the modern underbarrel grenade launchers and used the same types of ammunition.
