Cavoe
Don't know if this has been talked about before, and it would probably be a pain to implement. Was just thinking about modeling weather systems on the Geoscape, then translating those to the battlescape... IE; big thunderstorm in area of that UFO you just downed, so battlescape will have reduce visibility, rain, lightning and thunder. Or you could have fog along some coasts early in the morning. Just a thought.
GreatGold
Hey - Yeah, this was discussed a bit before. But then I lost track of the thread, so no clue how it ended. Would be nice to see this discussed again... Gold
j'ordos
Hmmm, fog... that's going to be a tactical nightmare, you can only see one or two spaces far, so if you see one alien it probably reacts before you can do anything, and you can forget about covering fire. It can just as well work for you, of course.I gotta say: I'd love it
LordT
Hmmm, fog... that's going to be a tactical nightmare, and maybe a reason to bring those hth weapons? Slice and dice in the cover of white >
Cavoe
yea j'ordos , Kina like fighting at night instead of day, more of a challenge =)Maybe you could introduce a newer version of the motion scanner that sences body heat =)
Breunor
It would be nice to have environmental effects in the battlescape. I don't know whether our current hardware requirement video card supports that, and there couldn't be any effect to range or visibility for v1. These things would be great for 'fog of war', pardon the pun.
Cpl. Facehugger
Well, weather effects could be cool, but if we have lightning, what happens if it hits the skyranger? Or a ufo? Roasted human/sectoid?
Cavoe
I like that idea =) have a random chance of lightning strikes on the map

crazy_higer
I'd be nice if thunderstorms would not only affect the battlefield conditions, but also the radar readings on Geoscape. As far as my knowledge goes (might not be too far, I'm afraid) heavy lightning activity give a heck of a lot of radar gibberish, so an UFO or an X-Com craft could use that to sneak to the enemy mostly undetected (useful if a mutual interception is implemented, and/or if the bases can engage enemy crafts from the ground, without the need for inteceptors). mikker
That would be too tough to make. And you would need some sort of indication of a thunder cloud being above the base, which there could only be one way of making; clouds, made out of a particle system. And that would cover the Earth so you won't be able to see it properly.
ATeX
Hi all! hmm, I think I posted this one a very very long time ago as well over here: http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3800 What do you think? cheers,ATeX
Effigyofdoom
i think that although it sounds great it would clog the geoscape. What you could do though is when a craft lands or intercepts another craft the readout could include the type of weather occuring in the area, so if a skyranger were to go to a terror site it could tell you whether it was raining or foggy before you chose to accept the mission
Tuoppi
A reveal/hide filter tab or few would do wonders here. Ones for borders, cities, weather and radar coverage came to my mind.
