Armour effect

Something I've been mulling for a while is what effect armour has when my agents have Personal Disruptor Shields.

 

Am I right in believing that the PDS acts as a second layer of armour as strong as the agent's armour? Or is the PDS strength unrelated to what armour the agent is wearing beneath?

Shields and your armor are independent of each other, and don't have any damage reduction based on what you wear. Shields are basically additional (recharging) health with 0 damage reduction. The same holds true for vehicle shields.

 

You can literally send someone without any armor and just 2 PDS and they will fight and survive just well as any other agent - until the PDS break then they're doomed. ;) They will be able to move faster though, which can be a bonus for hybrids.

There's a major flaw with this no armour theory, as I found out within seconds.

 

Your agents are totally vulnerable to each others' toxigun fire, bizarrely.

 

This should be the solution to agents infected by brain suckers, hence bringing your soldiers back on your side.

Not to sound cheeky, but stop shooting your own men! ROFL

 

It'll protect you just fine vs. alien and enemy guard fire, with the usual exception of the brainsucker.
