So, this time I decide not to try a full out assault and only send my two scouts up north to try to pick his units for my riflemen to shoot at. Meanwhile I bring a rocket launcher along to clear the fences and barns in the area so while the scouts progress up north rockets keep falling on his position.
10 turns afterwards and he hasn't moved, using the same defensive tactics as the previous game, waiting for my units to move forward then shooting at them and not moving from his south corner of the map. One of my scouts manages to reach his side while the other is killed in the middle of the field.
The remaining scout moves south to the remains of a barn that had gotten hit by somewhat by chance (i remembered his position from the mission planner) and finds one of his units there. All of my rifleman shoot and hit him but fail to kill, so the scout fires his plasma rifle, kills by chance another of his soldiers then drops the primed grenade he has in an act of kamikaze that fails.
Scout gets killed on his turn and then my soldiers start pumping shots into his position but fail to kill anyone, 4-3, he's winning. After some turns doing this I start worrying about ammo so I stop shooting and wait for his advance. Nothing happens so my soldiers first move to get the ammo from the first scout killed, then they go circling around the top to attack his position but they find it empty. I realize that he has finally moved and (this was now turn 30) I start seeing plasma fire hitting the barns on my former side of the map. So I cross again the battlefield, this time from the center.
As I move I find one of his guys guarding the direction from where I was coming but he's much more north and doesn't seem to see me since I restrain from firing and slip my guys through the south.
Next turn, one armed with a primed grenade moves up and spots him, along with another. The two remaining guys shoot and kill him and then the grenade goes to make a smoke barrage, with everyone moving on the opposite direction of the barn. 3-3, we're even.
His response goes to the wrong side and all of his shots hit the terrain. Next turn, same technique: a guy readies a grenade and goes forward, spots the other guy and my remaining two kill it. Grenade goes off, smoke curtain, everyone uses their remaining TUs to back away.
His reaction? "It is obvious that you cheat", followed by pressing the exit button.
