Basically, the idea is to use the savegame editor to remove buildings from organisations that are raided when their budget is less than 0.
When they have no money and get raided with financial losses, the raided building is taken by Government.

What, you, people think about it?

Cool idea, but would it crash the game when they have no buildings?

I take it their vehicles will still operate in the city? I mean the odd rider and vehicle that pops up every so often. COS vehicles like to pop up a lot after an air skirmish and there are UFOs to recover. Then there are the gang's suicide flyers.

What would happen if almost the entire city is government owned? I wonder what'll happen when someone tries to raid another organisation? Where will the vehicles come from when purchased? Some rather interesting questions raised.

I know that if you try to purchase goods from an org that doesn't have any buildngs the airtrans spawns in the top left corner of the city and won't budge. You can still force it to arrive at your base by using the fastest speed setting. (edit: same with purchased air vehicles, don't know about the ground ones)
How about making the building available for purchase by the player instead? Nothing like setting up your base in a former CoS temple. :)

I observed the city for about 5 minutes and no enemy vehicles appeared - I observed it for 2 minutes with buildings present and 2 enemy vehicles appeared.

Heh :) .

Damn, they still do raids even if they lose a building :/ .
It seems that I have to set the hostility to neutral in ME after defeating an organisation...

It seems that orgs need to be set to neutral to avoid attacks and set to neutral with all other orgs to avoid later trouble.

I made some experiments to see how the game treats X-Com bases being attacked, both from air and from the ground.
I discovered that one succesfull raid is enough to destroy the X-Com base (which is given to the Government) and razing the building to the ground has the same effect.
It doesn't matter how much money X-Com has.

So, winning a raid should be equal to eliminating a building and razing a building to the ground should have the same effect on corporations (it makes some sense, taking in account that there aren't infinite amounts of soldiers and wealth in the Megacity.

That's the problem of government - I think that it would be hard to bankrupt the government ;) .

EDIT:
Heh...
I've destroyed the CoS in two missions XD .
I think this mode will bankrupt me XDDDDDDDDD .

No, I just won attacks on their bases :) . All their bases are belong to Government :D !

I killed off Psyke and Diablo on the same day (I ran out of money and I had to start a war.) :D .
I ran out of the resources, so now I'm fighting against Osiron - I eliminated 1 warehouse and 1 slum with minor losses - It was pretty profitable :D .
Now I have to eliminate only two more :D .

That's what government is for. Also, X-Com's buildings return to government too.
Multiple raids on the same building are an exploit - simply, the game acts like the owner automagically rented new cops with expensive equipment - it's absurdal that I can make a many raids on a building each time gaining tons of items like Launchers, Plasma Guns, Mini Launchers, Psiclones and Elerium.

It depends - the player has to deal with hiring soldiers, buying equipment, etc.
It all costs time and money. Especially, in my mod, where some weapons have a high cost - for example Laser Rifles cost 6000$ and Heavy Launchers 12000$.
In game, organisations get them for free in unlimited numbers.

Why do the weapons cost so much??!? O.O
Those Rocket launchers are pretty...uhm.. useless xD
even in recent times they wouldnt cost Near that ammount to make O.o..
Even a high tech thing like a Laser Rifle.. the materials wouldnt cost more than 400 dollars, and the processing would cost around 300 or less.. so the gun would probably sell for about 1200.. O.o

Yoni, in order to deal with Inflation the government would need to print more money, thus lowering the value of the money.

Are you familiar with the great depression?

Well of course its not as simple as that Az, you know I have a habit of oversimplifying things xP

but either way, there is no understandable or logical reason that those weapons would cost so much-- they dont even appear to have an interface on most of them.
Mabye the missles for the rocket launcher might cost a bit, around 150 or so dollars, but the marsec machine gun for example is a fairly primitive weapon compared to most of these! xD

The prices look odd to me too, but you do have to ask: What real-world currency are you basing the Apocalypse prices on? US dollars? Pounds? Dinars? Rupees?

Sometimes its best to not make any sense of it and just go along with it.

Isn't X-Com 3 the game where a vehicle-mounted 40mm autocannon is cheaper than an infantry machinegun?

Anyway, I took prices from UFO and divided them by 10.

Yoni, in order to deal with Inflation the government would need to print more money, thus lowering the value of the money.

Are you familiar with the great depression?

Here in Belgium economics work so that every year the value of money drops with about 2 %. (Something of that magnitude). It's an artificially created inflation, so that money keeps slightly dropping in value and people are more stimulated to spend their money rather than hoard it for interest. Thus stimulating the economy. (I think it's robbery)
I don't know how it's done in the rest of the world. I assumed it was common practice everywhere.

And yes I'm familiar with the great depression.

Either way, my answer wasn't intended as THE answer. Just as a possibility, slightly in jest. Personnaly, I believe, I KNOW that the makers of the game never ever considered any such things. None of the designers ever gave item prices that much thought. They just slapped on prices which were balanced compared to each other.

although thats an interesting concept Yoni, I dont believe anyone of the working class would keep money for 1% interest or so a year xD
everyone does indeed need to eat.. x;

but that is a rather clever little trick belgium uses I must say, but what does it do for imports?
Causes all imports to cost more money.
It all works out in the end as the government is printing more money to cause the inflation.. but either way xD!

Hey I'm bumping this thread.
I started an Aliens 250 game on Superhuman today. I got a "Live Alien Spotted" in a Recylcotorium which was fun, but after the mission I noticed something

OWNER: X-COM

I didn't have a base there though. So it should be possible to set ownership to X-COM after a successful raid without having a base inside it.
Also I think just 1 raid is stupid, unless the guards inside the build are numerous, like 20+

Was this the Superhuman map? There's the large COS building known as the Temple of the Apocalypse (or something like that) a couple of blocks north of it. The Recyclotorium is just next door to one very common Superhuman level starting base location.

The Recyclotorium always belongs to X-Com, and is treated like an X-Com building. You can't do anything with it though.

It's just one of the fun peculiarities of the superhuman map.

Also, on a tactical map, why is the Recyclotorium's tunnel system thingy filled with bodies?

Of course X-COM has a Recyclotorium. Whenever you click "Destroy Alien Specimens," you don't think the AC guys just dump 'em all in a CoS Temple, do you? ROFL

Actually, you can attack it. If you've been raiding like crazy (or abusing stun raids) and you don't feel like getting cloaked-&-shielded Aliens in the next drop, you can send a few bikes and cars with Bolters to cause some damage to the city. You won't retaliate against yourself, and I'm pretty sure that you don't have to pay for the damage.

Also using Recyclotorium for disposing alien bodies is a great answer

Unfortunately, you can't raid your own buildings. :( I imagine that X-COM guys would be way tougher than rent-a-cops, though. It would be weird to raid your own building only to fight clones of your agents!
