Adun_Toridas
Should we use it in battlescape? those would be as a great wave destroying anything... great thing.... but create it and if feasible balance it.
T-1
How would these work? Explain more. And I don't remember any sonic weapons in Dune. Of course I haven't read Dune: The Battle of Corrin, Dune: House Harkonnen, Dune: House Atreides, Dune: House Corrino, and Heretics of Dune, so it might've been in one of those books. sir_schwick
Current sonic weapons have no where near the necessary amplitude to be destructive. Some experimental police weapons can cause severe pain, but that is about it..
Kora
Sonic weapons were introduced at Dune by David Lynch, there were just maulas and krysknives in origynal story.... and if you do remember DuneII - the game, they used Sonic tanks there as well
[Blehm 98]
but yeah, remember, the aliens use mostly plasma, we can't be putting in both Xcom 1 and 2 in the same time span, because that would make no sense one mission aliens are using plasma, next they are using sonic, and then a mix... and then where do the sonics go damage wise? Who's he? I never played any of the Dune games, except for that truly sucky action/adventure game that doesn't let you save during a mission and requires you have a lame-donkey water meter that goes down to 0 in like ten minutes and if you kill people you magically gain their water and people bleed water rather than blood. sir_schwick
In Frank Herbert's Dune there were no sonic weapons. There were lasguns, simple projectiles(krysknife, knives, swords, stunners), and shields. Shields would prevent penetration by fast moving things, but would allow slower movement(air). This meant that you had to do all your fighting with super-slow projectiles(stunners) or knives/swords. If a lasgun bolt hit a shield it would cause a nuclear explosion ranging from grenade sized to megaton strength. I Westwood added the sonic tanks to the RTS game because no one was ready for Dune: Total War at that time. The Dune games were pretty hoss for the time, especially with faction diversity(like RA). I agree with your assessment about the action/adventure version. Truly terrible.
