Need Help For Running X-com With Dosbox

Hello all!

 

I really love this forum, we can find a lot of tips for X-COM 3 (my favorite game ^^).

 

But (yes here's the but), i just formatted my computer (i'm french, i don't know if you understand the word) and X-Com doesn't run under DosBox.

Let me explain: with the tutorial at the head of the forum I succeed to play with my old X-COM CD.

Then, no probs, lot of fun, until i formate the computer.

 

But now IT DOESN'T RUN! I thought it was because i only formatted the C: and not D:, and my games are installed on the D:, but the register on C:.

 

So i uninstalled DosBox and re-installed it, and did the same with X-com, but it still doesn't run. I tried a lot of solutions found on the net, but nothing works, just an improvement: before it was that:

And then it said "D:\"

 

Now it start the intro but when the intro ending, it says.... "D:\"

 

I think the problem comes from the computer: before formatted, he recognized the CD, when i introduced it in the drive it said Play or Quit. Now it's Install or Quit.

 

I tried to fully uninstall it but it still not working, it says "Install or Quit" whereas it's installed

 

Please help me i really want to play this great game!

Finally i managed to play with multiples differents tweaks...

 

I mixed 4 solutions found on the net and it's finally worked

Can you remember how you combined them? I once had Apoc running on XP flawlessly, but now it's not working again; if you can remember and reproduce the order you did it in, along with your system specs (ie, are you using XP with or without SP2, etc.) then we might be able to get somewhere.

It usually is the CD-Rom drive. I mounted mine by not using -ioctl command. I just used the K:/ -t cdrom0 or whatever number your CD-Rom drive is in your system. If it is the second number drive then use cdrom1 for that line. the next command (-ioctl) never would work on my DVD-Rom drive. It is not needed to make the drive work for some CD-Rom type drives. It depends.

 

Not all commands may be needed.
