Deimos
I don't know how many of you have read these pdf's but there is some great tech resources in them which would be perfect for the xnet. Seeing as our xnet is gonna be much more than just a ufopedia the stuff from these files would be great additions. The one on the synopsis of unconventional flying objects would be great for explaining how xenocide's ufo's move and the other would be good to paraphrase for general use. I can see if we use this kind of stuff in the xnet along with as much ufo lore strange encounters etc. that we'll have kind of 'X-files' style black library for our gamers to enjoy wandering through. I'd love to see all in one place stuff about as many ufo sightings as possible along with ufo technology. I know I'd spend ages reading up on it.Pdfs.zip

MagicAndy
We'd have to cut them down a bit but I'd love to see non-game related material in the archives - great idea!
Deimos
The plan was from the beginning to have the xnet as more than the original game ever had. More of a mini internet than just a game resource so in a way Jordos you are right If you look at the current concpet for the xnet there are extra buttons in there for the other areas not covered in game. We thought of it as the player is the commander of a top secret force, so why wouldn't they have all the black research and info at their fingertips. Also it gives all the CT guys something to do when all the research entries are written up.
Ancalagon
This would look awesome in the x-net. What about copy-right laws? are they going to be an issue? Edited March 25, 2004 by Ancalagon
Deimos
I don't think copyright would be an issue for most of the stuff as ufo lore is quite a wide and varied subject and the stuff in those doc's above I've seen in various places. Anyway all that would be needed would be for you uber writers to use creative licence and write stuff 'inspired' by what you've read on the net and other sources. MagicAndy
exactly: this wouldn't be a cut a paste job, after condensing the various data it would have to be written into a consistant format (like a classified report or something) for the X-net EDIT: I think we should cover some/all/more than the following areas: Secret organisation/societies/cultsHistory of alien encountersAlien TechonologyUFO sightingsCrop circlesAbductions and cattle mutilationsArea 51RoswellAlien/world leadersconspiracy thories of all kinds Anyone care to add to this list? j'ordos
euhm... Von Däniken? Atlantis, Nazca, ... Pyramids could be attributed to aliens too, just like the Sphinx Possible ancient/medieval sightings? Easter Island? Just HOW much do we intend to add eventually? Cpl. Facehugger
As much as a person can hold without their brain exploding from too much information. We should include some joke/easteregg X-net entries too. Of course, they should be hidden so you can only get "The real reason behind alien anal probes" by doing a really odd sequence of events (such as researching a commander before a leader, etc.)
Deimos
Talking of too much information... While doing some spring cleaning I found some old web documents that I'd hidden away inside an old ufo book I have. I went and looked to see if the websites were still active but no joy. So I grabbed the scanner and my ocr package and here's the result. Hopefully these will be of some use. The Lazar interviews are quite cool as they go into detail about how ufo power sources work.LAZAR_Technical_Stuff.txt
Deimos
This one's quite fun as well, but a little less contraversial.Elemll5.txt
