Heel Turn
First, my apologies for posting this here -- there's a thread that covers essentially what I'm about to post in the Strategy/Tactics - Geoscape forum, but it seems that no one visits there. Allow me to set the stage -- I'm beginning my second year of gametime. I have my main base located just off the coast of Neo-Japan. Towards the end of the month, a bunch of alien ships on infiltration missions converge and build a base around Federated Korea. I shoot down all the ships, raid them, and then raid and destroy the base. All should be well, right? Wrong. At the end of the month, I get a message stating that Neo-Japan has signed a pact with the aliens, despite me doing everything necessary to turn away any alien subs. I'm considering restarting the month, as I've got a savegame for the previous month, but I'm pretty irritated by this. Is there any way to save a nation from signing a pact with the aliens, or, barring that, is there an easy way to edit my game to bring back Neo-Japan if I continue on in the game? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can provide.

Heel Turn
this may answer your questions http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8693<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the link; very informative. So really, there's no way to prevent an infiltration if the game wants the country to turn?
Pherdnut
My theory is that in the higher difficulties alien missions can succeed without the ships even having to land. Were you in Superhuman? For instance, in UE it seems like in Superhuman, the ships don't even have to land to build a base. The second they show up, the base is built. testarossa
Thanks for the link; very informative. So really, there's no way to prevent an infiltration if the game wants the country to turn? Basically, yes. And I'm pretty sure those arguments for Russia in that thread I posted aren't valid in TFTD, so every zone can be infiltrated in TFTD, I haven't tested this out but the largest country is the Asian Coalition and it can be infiltrated.
