Edit the file "cwxced.ini" that is in the editor's directory. You should see these lines:

[Files]
UFO_Path=\MPS\UFO               ; Home directory of X-COM:UFO
TFTD_Path=\MPS\TFTD             ; Home directory of X-COM:TFTD

Change the game paths to match where you have your copy of the games. Due to the fact that the clarkweyr editor is dos-base, you may need to change the way the directory looks in the path. For example, if you're using the collector's edition of UFO Defense and you installed the game to the default folder, you'll enter the following for the UFO_Path:

\progra~1\microp~1\x-comc~1\ufodef~1

I edited that and can get it t open fine.

As soon as I try and edit something it closes.

Any ideas?

Does it give you an error, or just immediately quits? Try using a slowdown utility like turbo

Oh, I am using turbo on the game.

I meant the editor closes ....

Then I don't know, it gives an error here if I don't use a slowdown utility on it.

OK, I learned if I do not move the mouse while the editor is open it works.

Now here is my dilemma - I started a game, saved, closed, opened the editor, made some changes.

I go and start the game up, play a bit, save, and close again. The NEXT time I open it, the edits are all gone and I am back to January 1 again.

Any ideas?

I think you have to hit esc when you are done with your editing and then press y to make backups

Just don't move the mouse onto the editor screen. It should work fine otherwise.
