WHAT HAPPENED TO MY STATS?

no idea. could have something to do with the fact that i'm no longer using xcomutil or i'm using xcom for dos.

i'll display everyone's stats again as soon as we get the new recruits.

hmmm... i completely forgot that.

ok, fixed, but i'm not fixing anyone else. it's too much fuss. i also took the time to make everyone a man (be happy j'ordos) :D

Anyway my prediction is that when I finally get called to action I bet I get tagged stepping out of the damn plane with my bullets still shrink-wrapped :rolleyes:

I knew I was a dead man when you sent me in that UFO first. At least I got some action, anyway. Thanks for the medikit, too, though a little late :)

 

Extraneous posts have been deleted so this game flows a little better.

 

Deathskull & Blackdash: Please be a little.... quieter... or you might respawn as females with stunrods who get MCed every turn...

Send the Skyranger two when its ready. Those guys need to get some action too. :D

So what is a policy for dead agent replacment? If an agent 'micah' was killed, new recruit comes and becomes 'micah2' or if an agent 'micah' was killed then "RIP" and micah needs to sign up again and hope he will be recruited once more?

You'll be revived as many times as you need to be, in order to save the Earth.

Since its a Big world... more bases mean more personel. Or (But that would be a lot o work) a new game for other ppl to join.

sheesh, you ppl sure are annoying. it's supposed to be an x-com game! it's hard... it's a killer... if u don't make it, well, be patient, stuff takes time <_>

that makes really hard for new rookies to get in to the action  :unsure:

not really. as soldiers die, the new rookies (the ones in last) will slowly move forward. due to the way x-com works, the "ressurected" guys (basically they're just new soldiers i buy and put the same name as old soldiers) will go back to last. it's kinda like a price to pay for getting ressurected :P

ressurected guys also get a "tag" on their names showing how many times they've been killed (and ressurected) ;)

I think promotions are given out once the ranking prerequesites are met. To be a squaddie, you need one kill, and then ranks are given based on who has the highest kills. Since Robo had the most kills, (4-5 from one mission, I think) he gets promoted when there are enough sergents and captains.

 

Puasonen and Black Dash had the next best # of kills, so they're captains.

 

As long as Robo is in the lead for # of kills, he'll make it all the way to commander. I'd really like that. ^_^

I've had squaddies with no kills. I think it's just based upon the number of missions they've been on.

I thought that Dos Xcom1 without Xcomutil = beginner difficulty...might explain the alien...marksmanship :D OTOH, maybe we'll live longer that way :naughty:

 

IIRC, any direct contact with aliens will get you squaddie...this could include just getting shot (and surviving), stunning an alien, or just wounding him, as well as getting a kill.

 

I've also noticed in the past that once a guy gets in the 'chain of command', so to speak, he stays there until he dies...I've had games where the captain got badly wounded early on and spent the next 2-3 months in the base, but still became Col. and later Commander when the promotions were handed out, despite the fact that he was FAR less experienced than his 'underlings'. Thats why guys were promoted for 'securing the Skyranger' :rolleyes:

 

Hooray, I'm finally there...not to bug ya, but any chance on a stats update? ^_^

 

This was a really great idea :beer: ...would you mind if I started a similiar game in the TftD forum?

I guess snakemen terrorsite will be a killer ^_^ The reason I'm actually posting is to ask "where did my rocket launcher go?" Not that I would complain, 3 kills in 1 mission with rifle but anyway :D

 

Stewy, I bet we won't see that before Psi strength becomes actual. Then most of us will get sacked if Sup won't use xcomutil a little :naughty:

Hey there's a thought! We can add an RPG aspect. Give us a certain number of points to distribute allowing for minimum requirement per stat and let us design our characters like an RPG!!!!!!

Perhaps we should institute a survivor-based system and vote, as a skyranger full of troops, that certain annoying persons be offered up as sacrifices to the aliens, or just shot in the head on the next mission....

LOL this is getting out of hand :D SupSuper will get his hands full if he wants to do as you all want. That would be excellent though, a little bit like D&D but with x-com :rock: (Yes I am a nerd)

 

Though this is impossible if we wont agree a specific time when everyone who has signed up comes here to play this..

now seriously, aren't you "customizing" x-com too much? still, it ain't such a bad idea. it'll keep you guys from bugging me for a long time. and i suppose when you're promoted (level up) you'll also want to customize the new points too, eh? well... ok, i'll do it. just let me figure out the stuff (stuff u can increase, maximiums, minimiums, points given, etc.) and then you can come up with your own "custom" stats.

oh, and don't forget, if you die, you get random stats (no more custom). it's the price :P

I'd advise against it, but if you must have it, some limits should be introduced so that it doesn't get out of hand. I mean, this should be fun, not overly tedious. ;)

 

A once-per-player basis is a good idea. I'd also only recommend the stats be set for base statistics, not for improvements. Improvements should be earned.

 

 

Also, some form of balancing should be done. We could use a zero sum system. Add one point to one stat, subtract from another. For example, you raise firing accuracy by transferring 20 points from reactions. You can now shoot better, but you'll get attacked with reaction fire a lot more often. Of course, a significant stat should be drained so that you don't end up subtracting from a skill you're not likely to use (like adding firing accuracy by subtracting from throwing accuracy). I'd say opposites would be firing accuracy - reactions, strength - throwing accuracy (one determines distance, the other how exact it'll be thrown), TUs - Stamina. Psi should not be touched. Not sure what should be the opposite of health...

 

 

Me, I don't really mind either way. I just want to use an average trooper to chuck grenades and kill aliens with finesse (and lots of luck). :)

Leave the stats as they are, if everyone has a super trooper, it will be boring. <_<

Actually I meant just your starting stats and let the game take it from there. Then there's no adjusting when stats go up. and if you die just use the same starting stats.

 

BTW why would being a girl be an issue for Jenny?

Okay, here's a list of the maximum and minimum starting stats that I've seen. I had about 80 rookies to look from(30 PSI trained), so I think I got it all.

 

--Edit: And the highest values I've ever seen after training--

 

Time Units..- 50 - 60 --81

Stamina.....- 40 - 70 --101

Health........- 25 - 40 --61

Bravery......- 10 - 60 --90(increments of 10, only)

Reactions...- 30 - 60 --65?

Firing Acc. .- 40 - 70 --112?

Throw Acc..- 50 - 80 --99?

Strength.....- 20 - 40 -- 71

PSI Talent...- 2- 100

PSI Skill......- 0 - 0 ---108?

 

It's up to SupSuper to decide first if he wants to do it, and how many extra points he'll give to agents. (Starting from the minimums, I guess.)

 

Some skills may require two points to increase(Strength?), and some may give two for every point allocated,(Stamina/PSI?) and some may be way out of whack. (Bravery?) I hope you'll let us know soon, SupSuper.

As for the fun discussion, I think Commander Tommy needs stats somewhere along this line.

 

Well, he NEEDS 250 health, at least. It's as close to immortal as you can get.:)

His firing accuracy should be around 10. Don't you guys remember how he blew himself up with a blaster bomb? :D

same for throwing accuracy. he threw a grenade and it ended up on himself :P

those stats are too much superhuman. All values except Health, Bravery and both Accuracies don't need to be bloody huge. also, he always uses Personal Armour ;)

 

edit: also, could a mod plz move all of this stats chat to the signup thread (the commander tommy's stats stuff should go into discussion thread), so that the story doesn't have such huge discussions in the middle and so that new members know about any kind if changes?

that said, i've createed a thread for any new discussions that you want. all the game reports / comments go here, while ideas/suggestions should go in there (unless important stuff to new members, like the stats thing, which go to the signup thread).

this is to help keep everything in its proper place without creating a mess. soon the game will need its own forum :P

Here it is! Commander Tommy! He would have a higher kill count, but teammates and yourself doesn't count. :rolleyes: At least it made him brave. (or immune to the suffering of his teammates)

 

He's not a PSI weenie, but can't do much with it, either. He's a seasoned veteran, (having been captured by the aliens once) with valuable skills to add to the squad. And he has the strength to use the blaster launcher. :)

 

So, is this a good stat setup for tommy?
