TheUnseen
akimbos would be good, a laserpistol in one hand a a plasma pistol in the other "Die you alien barsteds" *Blam* *splat* *fri*
[NKF]
I already do that all the time in UFO, and it works just fine the way it is. However, there's already an old running discussion about this exact topic over under Basescape Labs/Soldier Skills http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1621 Thank goodness for search engines or else I would never have been able to remember where that was. - NKF
mikker
Simply make 'akimbo shot' an option, to make shoot both at the same time (snap shot), and 'auto akimbo' to make 6 shots. You won't be able to akimbo with diffrent weapon classes (pistol/rifle, but rifle/rifle and pistol/pistol is ok). Isn't that enough really? T-1
Pistols == inaccurate. Try firing rifles akimbo. Doesn't work too well, at all.
mikker
not the point, gameplay over realism. If it looks good, and plays well, it IS good.
[Blehm 98]
Well, it would have to seriously decrease accuracy to fire two weapons at once, because the recoil would be crazy
mikker
indeed it would. But people might still prefer it.
tzuchan
I think that in the event dual wielding is ever implemented, the only kind of weapons that can be wielded this way is the handgun class. Movies aside, the difficulty in aiming and the recoil from to rifle class weapons would simply make it pointless to try in the first place. SMGs on the other hand, might make good dual wield weapons. mikker
actually, laser rifles don't have recoil, so you might be able to acimbo shoot those.
Cavoe
I've never heard the word Akimbos used for two weapons... Is this a new thing, or just one of those things we Americans never cought on to? I've always said dual weapons or dual wielding
Exo2000
They're usually referred to as Akimbos.
[NKF]
Hmm. Let's see what a dictionary has to say. Akimbo means with hands on hips and elbows turned outwards. Almost like the stance of your stereotypical wild west gunman ready to draw two guns from their holsters, which is why I guess it's being used in the context of using two guns. - NKF
Cavoe
Ahhhh... Just never heard it used that way
tzuchan
actually, laser rifles don't have recoil, so you might be able to acimbo shoot those. That may be so, but with the grip that you're currently modelling for the laser rifle, it'd be hard to hold it one handed, much less aim in the general direction
Exo2000
This is true. With that grip it'll be near impossible to akimbo the laser-rifles.. The pistols, on the other hand... :wink1:
fux0r666
akimbo adj : (used of arms and legs) bent outward with the joint away from the body; "a tailor sitting with legs akimbo"; "stood with arms akimbo" [syn: akimbo(ip)] adv : with hands on hips and elbows extending outward; "she stood there akimbo" From dictionary.com I think it just means outward from the body, as an adjective. Standing akimbo is a different definition, because it does not specify what exactly is akimbo- it is the verb that is 'akimbo' not a noun. Therefore, the assumption is that the elbows are akimbo-. Saying that your 'guns' are akimbo would mean that they are outward from the body.
[Blehm 98]
hmm, what about dual rocket launchers, heavy cannons, or autocannons? I mean, just using an autocannon is unrealistic enough, so why not step it up a notch and make it so you can use two at once
