>My theory is that the alien was knocked out in the shooting down of the ship, and one of the wheels was on it so it had to move.

Lots of data corruption, or just plain bad handling of the game data is to blame for these oddeties.

The anti-logarithm of the logarithm of X plus the logarithm of Y equals X times Y, or 10^(logX + logY) = XY

My first order of business: Homeless people make cheap rookies, and are great at opening UFO doors. Heck, they're so cheap, I'm going to replace all personel with them!
Secondly: This organisation takes too much money to run. Weapon shipments will come from Siberia from now on. Costly maintenance is to be cut on all facilities. That includes venting.
Thirdly: We have a new colonel. His name is Facehugger, he loves aliens, and I want you all to treat him with respect.
Lastly: I'll be in my condo on an undisclosed island, if you need me. Good day.

! That would be so damn usefull
Would those live dolls count as an extra unit? I'd like to throw one out of the skyranger, and see what shoots it.

All I can come up with is that, somehow, an unarmed alien had somehow worked the logic to make his way to a dead friend's body to obtain a firearm, picked up the wrong thing, then something screws up (if such an AI code exists, to pick up weapons that is)--maybe something along the lines of "Cannot...shoot...this...item...at...this...person!". *shrug*
No matter how you look at it, it's still creepy...

Here I go an angry brother gonna make his move
But can I buck him in the city so I never lose?
See I'm a get him in the crowd with a couple heavies
And lay the barrel to the ground, hold the gat steady
And now I'm ready for my adversary, talk is cheap
I'm looking for a way to make a plan gonna keep it neat
So don't be telling me to get the non-violent spirit
'cause when I'm violent is the only time the devils hear it
'cause all I want to see is m****f***ing brains hanging

Oh, it happened to me too, I guess it's simply that teh Alien satring positionwas, for a reason or another, under your weapon pile when it landed... that way, it's unconscious, and at the same coordinates as your starting stuff
I went to a mission and it started like every mission, with equipping soldiers. It's just that I had sectoid engineer in my skyranger and I sure as heck didn't put it there (because it isn't even possible) What the heck?!
almost as funny as the sectoid leader that shoots you point blank with a stun bomb... Free live alien!!

then I have to write it down so it doesn't corrupt the rest of my brain.. "

There is another which states that this has already happened.
