MagicAndy
I thought we should start a thread of websites that people know there are royalty free sounds. Then the sound guys with the know how(i.e. not people like me) can go through and pick the ones they like, clean them up or whatever it is they do and possibly use them. Heres a few: http://www.a1freesoundeffects.com “Non Profit / Personal Use: Everyone Can Download And Use The Sounds For FREE For Any School, Church, Student, or Non Profit Corporation, And You Can Use The Sounds Freely In Any Project.” - A1 Free Sound Effects. http://www.koumis.com/soundfx.htm "All sound effects on this page is free and royalty free and may be used for commercial and non commercial use" http://grsites.com/sounds/scifi001.shtml "Now with 1,980 high quality sound effects for use in web pages and games."I think this one is ok since Xenocide is not a comercial product. fidel_
I spent hours of searching for some free sounds when I was planning to make an animated scene where two mechs battle each other few months back. Well, I never did the scene but I did find some nice sounds, these were all collected from free sites, but who knows where were they originally taken from. I'm not sure if we can use them since I don't know which sound came from which site (I checked one that I remembered by name and it's not even up anymore). But I really like those explosion sounds. http://www.koti.phnet.fi/holoantt/wavs/
[[Micah]]
Good job, everybody. Fidel, if the files' source is debatable and we don't have clear proof of a royalty free (or express permission from the author) we can't use them. Someone may recognize them and it could bite us in the butt later.
MagicAndy
here's another http://www.users.qwest.net/~jhorwath/index.htm I'm currently offering, free of charge, quality sound effects for private, commercial, and corporate use. Breunor
It would be wise for music members to download/upload here whatever sounds they think they'll want to eventually use, as we all know how quickly links can die. Has anybody come across sites for famous speeches or quotes? Deimos and I were talking about an intro movie, and the idea was to have voice over start by talking about humanity and war (performed by yours truly, in James Earl Jones timbre), mixed in with sound bites of famous quotes related to war, space and survival from our past. Things like, "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" type of stuff. I found Roosevelts State of the Union address during the depression, where he says "all we have to fear is fear itself". I'm looking for several other famous bits, and hoped to make a few voice recordings after developing a script, then perhaps somebody could either point me towards free audio editing software or edit for me, to string them all together into a single audio file. Then we could work on the modeling portion of it. We pretty much have the script figured out, if anybody would like to play with the idea let me know and I'll get you more details. Thanks! MagicAndy
There's a few great sites for written quotes if you want to have them laid over the top of the video. I don't know of any for audio quotes though. I will look. Edit: Oh, I have one of George W Bush saying "we're working hard to put food on your family" Edited February 24, 2004 by MagicAndy
Xer0
Fruityloops 4 Studio DemoSynth1 VST Good start to making your own music. The Fruityloops demo has all the features of the normal one except for the fact that you can't save. However you can still export, and if you really get desperate, just leave your comp on all night.
