Base Defense

I am playing at level 4. I have my first base at 2400 defense level. Is it enough?

 

I have never had any attacks on my bases yet and it is already a May outside... Do you see something wrong?

Statistically there's still a chance you will be invaded, but as I said after litterally one kilo-attempt, none yet. On the other hand it's really annoying because the attempts never stop.

 

Although . . . .

 

The Avenger flys faster than a battleship. Maybe once they have your number if you can shoot down their attempts they "MIGHT" give-up.

i think if you let them come in once it will take soem time to come back for an other raid.

 

 

i allways have put grav shield +4 fusion and its enaugh for defence ..3-4 shots of fusion ship is destroyed.

 

but when this happen like Stew said. IT NEVER STOPS.Once i had my base was allways underattack. ships destroyed ,they come again. they never stop until they passs your defence.

 

i say let them come whenever they want. they will get in get :spank: and they will have a lesson for a couple of months.

The thing is that I has never been attacked yet. And I just was wondering whether it is worth to spend all those money on defense if they do not attack bases...

Yeah, make those useless engineers do something useful!

 

IF you are really short of money (and dont mind sorta cheating) then you can implement the transfer trick too. I dont do that though.

Thanks for advice. I am going to put 4 FB + gravyshield (when I research them) and see how did they like it. If they will like to bump into them all the time, then I will remove my defense when it will become to annoying.

By leaving them alone and never build there.

 

If you have no hangar then you only need one square.

One hangar means three squares.

Most people have tow or three hangars and for that you need 5 squares. Of course this assumes the lift connects to one of the hangars and that you are not exploiting the disjoint base bug.

 

But anyway giving 1,000,000 post sounds pretty good don't you think?

Set up your base like this :

 

HH0000

HH0000

0A0000

0*0000

******

 

0=nothing(dirt)

H=hangar

A=access lift

*=other facilities

 

This is just an example, the aliens can only enter through your Hangar and Access Lift, and there's only one way from there into your base... :naughty:

Just build 3-4 fusion (forgot name) defences, and a gravity shield. 2-4 hits does the job, and you got 6-7 shots! :devillaugh: Edited by mikker

Each "square" in this case is the place were you can place a facility. Don't think square; forget square. Ehem

 

The best facility for defending the base is 5 "dirt" facilities.

 

Surround your hangars and lift with them.

 

The problem with 4+ fusion balls and grav shield believe-it-or-not is . . . .

 

that they work!

 

You will get SO MANY invasion in will annoy the fvcking he11 out of you!

With 5 fusion and one grav they NEVER get through. I used to play that way. The fact is after a while you can have multiple invasion attempts on the same base. Then when they started doing the same with your other bases . . . well . . .

 

I'll just say I don't use 5 fusion+grav anymore and leave it at that.

I tend to not spend much/any money on base defense until I have gotten fusion ball and grav shield technology. This is simply because the earlier defenses don't have the firepower to shoot down a battleship unless you build ludicrous amounts of them. When you have 2 fusion defenses and a grav shield, you get 4 shots, which is more than enough to take out a battleship. I found that about 3/4 battleships go down with just 2 fusion defenses and a grav shield - if you want extra safety, build a third one.

 

Usually, by the time it's that late in the game that I can afford to toss about 3 mil. at building defenses, I'm not particularly itching for yet another alien attack, I just want to research that bloody avenger and Cydonia and get cracking! On the other hand, it's always fun if a bunch of aliens walk into your base and you have about 50 troops there, and they only brought like 20...

 

Story: One time, I had a psi-training base. There were three psi-facilities there, and I'd always have a fresh batch of rookies rotating out of there every month. Well, one time, some Ethereals decided to take over the base, so they launched an assault. Needless to say, 30 t-shirt rookies armed with 10 laser rifles against Ethereals and their Sectopods: not good. After the first two turns, about half of my troops would panic or get mind controlled, and two or three got mowed down. The good news: after this mission, I knew who was going to join my elite squad at my primary base. Bad news: There were only five of them, out of six survivors. The sixth guy spent the entire time hidden in one of those "chopped off" sections of the base, panicked.

i don't bother to build defences, waste of good space. besides, the aliens never bother to raid any of my bases, although i've tried to show them where they are zillions of times :P

like, if the aliens actually attack my base, it's much more rewarding to just kill'em in the base then have defences shooting down the ufo. simple.
