Alien Containment!

Recommended Posts

I've always found it strange to be able to build an alien containment facility first day on the job, without having seen a single alien (and in a starting base that don't even have it)

I'd propose (and it could even be for V1) that you need to perform at least ONE autopsy of an alien before researching alien containment... I mean, there's not a lot we can do without having seen even one of them...

On a side note, we definitely need an emergency power module, and a medical wing!!

And blastdoors, let's not forget blast doors!!! :hammer: :naughty:

I think that if your base is attacked and you have an alien containment facility the aliens should be motivated to get to it. If they succeed, they let all the aliens in the facility out and into the base to assist in the attack. Would suck to be researching that leader and have him let loose, only to end up dead while defending the base.

Or, to keep a specific genus of alien alive, you have to research his corpse (to find out his needs.) I.e., to store Vipers, you need Viper autopsy.
Seems perfect to me... It would be quite easy to make roomful of cells with adjustable environment. (Temperature, atmosphere, light, humidity and such.) You would just need to know what kind the environment should be.

Uh, a little clarification is in order here: I proposed that ANY alien authopsy could be used for the alien containment, but the idea of having one for each specific race would also be possible, if a bit extreme...

The whole point of the alien containment facility is to replicate any (reasonnable) ambiant conditions, yes, but you need to know what a creature NEEDs before putting it in... Suppose you think a creature normally breathes methane (except the adaptations for breif periods in our atmosphere), in what concentrations? What other gases? moisture? alcohol/organic molecules? etc. If we're just experiment it, we're just going to kill the thing... We can't know those unless we've studied either their life-support equipment inside their crafts, and/or done an authopsy...

Imagine if someone were to put you in a simulated air that's about as low in oxygen as the Everest summit, whith 0% humidity... You won't survive more than a day or two...

The way it works right now, I buiold an alien containment facility first day on the job!

It's completely unrealistic... it should be a project in and of itself, with an authopsy (or alien life/support tech) as prerequisite IMO.
