x0563511
How about making it an uninteractive transparent overlay? Possibly toggling it with a hotkey? If this is done, maybe an option for having it as a seperate window (let the window manager deal with the rest) for those of us who don't use fullscreen? Here's what I mean about the overlay: (this is GIMPed, not a patch )
Neithan
Its great idea indeed...transparent minimap would be a great improvement. I like it
Tursiops
Seems like it will be confusing, as the colors on the minimap are the same as those used on the battlescape. Its hard to say without really trying it, but it might be a good feature with some tweaking. Anyone remember the 2D map from the original Doom videogame? That would be awesome, and could probably be achieved by doing an edge detection on the minimap. Think a wireframe 2D minimap overlay. Either case would be a considerable amount of work, but maybe a fun project for someone new to coding ufo2000.
