XCOMUFO & Xenocide

Restarted.

Recommended Posts

Haven't played any Xcom (or really, any computer game) for quite a while (in this case, 2 years). Thanks to the Xbox I've been playing non-stop graphix entertainment for weeks on end. Now I've decided to take a visual break from games and break out some classics in my collection. (prepare for a short list)

X-Com CE of course (Xcom 1 & 3, 2 is too tedious for my tastes honestly)

Fallout 1 & 2

Ultima 7 & Serpents Isle

Jagged Alliance 2 & Unfinished Business

Myth 1 & 2 (Expansion as well)

BattleCruiser 3000 A.D

Possibly the Warcraft series.

Red Baron (heck yeah! been a LONG time)

Anyways, I've decided to come back to the X-Com series first as I knew it would be one of the great ones. Had trouble starting X-Com 1 (dled a few fixes and I'll try it later) but of course Apoc runs fine.

Second Highest Difficulty, 3 weeks into the game, barely started my second base and have around 16 troops. Constant battles keep me recruiting rookies, I'm starting to pick up on a very nice cash flow method (tell me if this is considered cheating please).

This was just a joke idea I had at the time, I sent my squad of Robots in on a raid of Osiron, only thing they carried (besides armor) were stun guns. I didn't honestly expect them to come out of it alive, but suprisingly enough, NONE of the gaurds attacked me. Now I remember wayyyy back in the day when I raided a building, I was attacked on site. But now I can walk straight up to these guys, stun them, and grab all their goodies before they wake up. So far I've only done this twice, but their disposition to me has dropped and I'm not to keen on loosing a company like them so early into the game. (Sensovision I'm letting die off because they lack anything I feel is important enough to keep them up) So is this a bad tactic? I don't plan on abusing it, but it sure feels nice to be able to grab some money now & then.... Of course now that I researched Disruptors I think I'll just attack the COS temples from now on...

I'll be around, starting war stories and the such that we all know & love.

Welcome aboard! :D

I think your tactic is nice, I have to try that - considering the look buildings get after I'm finished with raiding them. :uzzi:  I prefer stunning them with my incendiary auto cannons!

When you stun them - do you have to take all their equipment immediately or do you "collect" when the battle is over? Is there an end to a battle when they don't even attack you? O:)

Found out this method is in fact called "Stun Raiding" or sometimes "Friendly Raiding'. Apparently it doesn't affect your standings with said company.... I just don't feel comfortable doing it, feels like I'm taking advantage of the game... I'll just use your method from now on, now I gotta repurchase all those incendiary weapons I sold for cash.

:crying:

Actually I had 2 variations (I've since stopped doing that, after another 6 or so in a week... I broke my abuse rule, LOL), one was bring my robosquad into the building (just 6 robots, but I plan on one last one with 12 or so) with JUST stunguns, and pick up everything they drop. That's sort of easier than the next. The other was stunning every gaurd and keeping them stunned long enough for the mission to start. Either way this is a good way to get your rookies up to squaddies and get some points.

:D Hahaha I have to try this when I get my soldiers out of sickbay.

I play the game in setting "hard" and at the start it's really tough with 6 soldiers to stay healthy.

But now I bought stun grapplers.

It's another game bug, caused by rush development, I guess. I do this with 12 units in squad divided on 4 groups. Using this tactic Im getting at about 200.000$-250.000$ per week (because I'm to lazy to do more) and few k of tactical points.

Ok my fellow warriors... I need help.

The payment for buildings that I burned to the ground during combat with alien slimies cost all my money. I even had to sell all my ships except 2 Valkyrie.

When I go stun raiding, I stun the people but they always wake up and I never get the "end of combat" message. Do I have to collect all their weapons and if finished with collecting do I have to leave the combat like a retreat?!? :o

Guess I need some hints.

i use stun raiding to get the most elite equipment of the game THE MIND SHIELD

i can't be purchased and is available through raiding

Mind shield is a device, must be activated in your hand.

it gives a 30 bonus to psi strength -temprorary-, and the bonus is permanent if you quit the mission while mind shield is active

NOOOO A BUG AGAIN!!! :uzzi: :chicken:

You need to left a guy or two near stunned enemies to stun 'em again -or- if there's only one enemy around stand at top of him. He won't get up.

:D :D :D well, then I would have to stun them I think. :naughty:

Yes, they get hostile when you give them a fire burial. :devillaugh:

Maybe it depends on what status the organisation had to you, Sanctuary was angry at me anyway but maybe if an organisation is friendly to you - you could have some fun without getting hostile?!? I've to try this some day.

Realationship is droping by few points. If you were allied then relationship gonna fall to friend or neutral. It depends on how much damage did you do. If it was one 'innocent-death-by-accident' then it won't gonna drop drasticaly, but if you gonna blow 'em on pieces, running around with their limbs in yer mouth destroying buildings and raping every met civilian worker of organization they sure gonna be extremly mad.
