Rescue Missions?

Say you send in an Avenger (Or the Xenocide equivalent) And it gets shot down in the interception phase. It'd suck to lose all your freaking troops, especially if they're your elite team...

 

Well, we could make scenarios like, if its shot down, aliens do what we would do. Land at it, and take out the survivors... What if you could send in a rescue team, to come pick up and protect the surviving troops? That'd be badass. haha

Thats a good idea-I like that. maybe have some survivors depending on how bad the fight was... Think it would be better tho to have a 2 pronged mission. Once the plane is shot down you can send your SAR unit out but if the aliens land near the crash site you have to hold them off till the team gets there. ^_^

That way its not that easy :naughty:

Same goes with the skyranger. Say the aliens develop a [hyperwavedecoder for human craft], and detect and chase after your transports [interception missions].

[avenger] and [lightning] gets to shoot back, but not the poor old [skyranger], hence making the need to get the new craft more urgent. Also the option to send [interceptors] and [firestorms] etc as escorts would be good.

The missions if the transport is downed.. survivors as those in the transport originally, with some health lost due to the crash. And also some die becuase of damage to the transport by the aline fighter. During the [battlescape]:

If second transport send for reinforcement,

"T minus 50 turns before reinforcements arrive. Hold off or destroy the alien forces until then."

If no reinforcements are coming,

"Destroy the alien forces or you are f*%ked."

~possibility of friendly nation's special forces arriving at the scene..!!

I really like this idea. You have to rescue the soldiers. Teh aliens will take them prosoner if you dont' and they will divulge secrets!

Same could apply for pilots of other aircraft, rescue the pilot missions....

 

Also, you could hire escorts/rescue people to get your men, if you have run out of troops, but at a cost.

Maybe if your guys are in fighting condition, once you see them, they will join you(ie awake in a cage, or hiding in a closet) Just give them something to shoot

Maybe they have a standard pistol or something, and you have to fend the aliens off for a few turns before the reinforcements arrive at the other end of the map.

How about this. they have whatever they could find or steal. sometimes they have a plasma pistol, sometims they have rocks, and sometimes they have nothing, but they can pick stuff up. And some of them are going to be tortured, and unfit to fight.

Not tortured, the aliens haven't got them yet - how about injured in crash landing, but in any case there will be only two pilots in aircraft with no soldiers.

What if the aliens were already there when you got there though?

unless their mission WAS to intercept you, i dubt they would really land themselves.

 

I have an idea, what about multi battle? I mean, your craft gets shot down and your troopcarrier is on its way (geoscape). But the aliens are also sending in troops (more often if they got a base on Earth), and will continue to land untill you get there. To balance the "equiptment trap" issues, you could make the stuff taken doing the missions, so that you don't get it, and only get the stuff you either had with the craft from the start or that stuff your guys are carrying (LOL capturing a cloak leader and putting it in the backpack :P).

 

What about this: when your backup arrives they have engineers to repair the craft and you will get ambushed by more UFOs untill it is fully repaired?
