later on, ill explain the graphics interface ( web like menus ). the videos that ilustrate the scenes ( video taken from ufo sites ), and the gameplay itself ( like alien needs to find elerium mines to lauch ships to earth, biological rather then ciborg like aliens, lauch missiles that can destroy a full base etc etc ), going into a more retrodesign than rather a UFO AFTERMATCH thing...

Nice comparison between the two sides. What if you placed the various buttons on the right side to keep them on that side, and had the face as a trasnparent layer that sat on the left side, partially covered by the planet? It would be larger as well of course.

Yeah, for version 1 the UI is set, I thought this would be interesting to see the potential alien side of things. But as I mentioned in the other thread where at least the main menu was posted, you should at least check out the screens already done. It's much easier to take the existing screens which will have various controls embedded into it, and just replace the graphic parts of it for the alien version. But then you're looking at something that's likely 4 years down the road at least... look at becoming a project recruit if you'd like to work on something for this version.

Thanks for the replys, as you can see the images are far from finished as the interface shows ( equals on both sides ).

My ideia of the interface is to run away from the vertical buttons, the ideia of them

transparent is good but i think they work better on a horizontal position.the ideia is to have a button who hides the interfaces and shows it at the same time, for the planet view fullfill the screen.I have some questions too, but now ill aswer yours.

Well as for aliens using american dollars, i didnt think of another "money unit" to produce things, another concept, diferent from money, afterall they are aliens...

And yes, the ideia is, as i work as a graphic designer and love ufo at the same time, why not join both and help to enhance the looks and embrance this remake,

helping out in same way or another.

What id like to ask is where i can see updated imagens and work of yours soo i can re-work as re-think things as well.

My ufo fantasy is to help make and play, a full multiplayer campain ( human vs alien ) as well as enhace the visual concept in a retro design way.

I also have some skills in 3D, but few compared with work i have seen in weapons and ships, for that the planets where build in bryce 5 using photoshop textures.

First of all, you got to get rid off time control because you couldn't change the speed of time anyway. (because if alien side changes time, it should change human time too and the other way round) So the time must be the same for the whole game.

Other thing is you have to see the globe all the time, even when you are checking for research and stuff because time can't be stopped. Also time can't be stopped when you see an ufo so it must be made very easy to choose interceptor and put it to engage ufos.

 

Othervise those screens look pretty well but that interface won't be changed anymore. They are already done. Of course they must be changed A LITTLE BIT for the multiplayer and if you feel like doing it, go for it. The truth is, xenocide multiplayer isn't a V1.0 issue so it will be in farfar future when we'll see that.

I know, first things first, just thinking on the concept images.

Alien Time is diferent from human concept of time, they live longer or something...

I think the interface, statistics, attacks send to earth, and defending mars must be well thinked over, and most of things must be done in the geoscape interface it self.keep sending aswers for more ideias to flow.

What do you guys think of the mass destrution of ufo kamizake thing?

I like the idea of a human invasion meter, but it all depends on how the multiplayer is implemented, to have full campaign would mean the player playing for 2-3 hours, and anyone who has tried playing multiplayer games will know that it's hard enough to find someone who will play for 5 minutes let alone until the end. Unless there is the idea of having both a short internet game of a battlescape situation, one defender and one attacker, and a longer campaign mode so that if someone knows someone else they can play a long game. That could work.

 

Personally I think the current UI is a good mix of human and alien, I don't think it needs to be changed ( bar a few tweaks that I personally would like, I get the impression everyone has different views on some small tweaks that are very much their own taste ) or will be changed.

 

So I'd say the graphics you've created are unlikely to get in the game, but prehaps some of the ideas will go into multiplayer. If you could d/l the Xeno Alpha 3, take a screengrab and try to impliment your ideas into that through the magic of Photoshop then it could be useful.

Hmmm, I think the biggest kamikaze attack would be a nuclear-laden ufo that attacked a city or base. You could take out the city and ruin the surrounding area, but not more than say a 100 mile radius for game balance. And then you'd want the human equivalent attack.

I allways hated those "ultimate weapons" at command and conquer too (u know, nuclear weapons, Ion cannons and so on..) I don't like the idea of some kamikaze attacks, but maybe it's just me.

Too much power and almost allways a turning point for a game. Just one attack can turn the game completely around. I don't like it. I mean, if aliens would come and wipe out a whole city, I think it would be shown on the funding too, they'd be pretty pissed.

The ideia is just that at some scale.

Imagine that humans have the research done to build the avenger and already know the alien base on mars, soo is just a matter of time, and the aliens discover a new ship tecnology that needs to much elerium to be build.Therefore both sides struggle to build they´re ship first in order to win the game.

The aliens need to find a human base first in order to blew it away or just point at random affecting finance of coutrys.As the humans they can launch the avenger or they can gun down the KAMIKAZE ship loosing only the interceptors in the range of the explosion.

I know its a crazy ideia, but to me it makes sense.

I think multiplayer time controle can work easily. Just make the slowest time selected. Such as if one player sets it to 1 day, and another wants 5 minutes then the 5 minutes will always win out. The player who wants things faster will simply have to accept that his oponent is busy doing stuff.

IRT time of day, you could have each planet spin at different speeds, but the time going by would be fixed. Most RTS games let you choose from different speeds, but once in the game it's fixed. That's what you'd have here probably.

 

Multiplayer is definitely a feature that will go into Xenocide, but we're looking at several versions down the road, ie it will be several years before we can realistically consider it. That's why I would focus your enthusiasm into current items, as you can pretty much be sure this thread will be lost to time when we do get around to it. By that time, there will be lots of changes in computer gaming and UI and all kinds of things IMO, and we'd be in a totally different league compared to today. Just an FYI, in case you'd like to work on something that will be in the game.

I come from the spectrum generation, soo i dont expected to be an old man when xenocide comes out.And who knows what computer games would be like in future?

Maybe 3D virtual reality XCOM 30 ?!?and ill be an addicted senill ...

Just le me know what would be more apropriate to do, for me to except to xenocide to come out in about 5 years!!!Just a joke...
