red knight
Dear Members of the whole Xenocide Community, I would like to make official a news that I was recently communicated. Mamutas (Vlad Judys) our former Senior Member has asked me to remove him from the development team of Xenocide. Where is the catch you might think? Well I would like all of you join me in my congratulations to him as he has accepted a job position in EA Florida, so he will be making games for a living. So unless our good people of Electronic Arts let him come back and help us, he will be there watching . All hail The Great Mamutas!!! red knight
Those that know me, say that I am very stuborn... I need more than a work, a girlfriend, a life and extra stuff to make me resign from something that I really enjoy doing ... BTW I will see Xenocide complete, even if that means that it will be the last thing I will do. mamutas
Hi everyone, Red Knight can make a catchy announcements for sure! Thank you everyone for all your congratulations, nice words and friendly fuzzy names you gave me! I love you all! Well, back to the topic now.As, you all now know I got the job in EA Tiburon Studio in Orlando, FL. I can definitely can consider myself lucky, cause I would laugh at anyone who would tell me such thing a few months ago. But, besides the luck, there were many positive factors that determined the outcome. I am very excited and nervous now, but I believe that all the things will work out. I sure should have said something earlier, but I am now in the middle of the turmoil I had thrown myself into: all the move preparation and new housing searches sounds much easier than they really are. I will try to keep some sort of blog here, for all your info craving, but I can't promise to do that regularly. One thing, I want to mention for all envious here. As nice as all that sounds, it cost me quite a lot to make a decision to accept this position. With all positives and negatives together, I myself think, that the man who made the decision got to be either really crazy or really crazy. As far as my relation with the project goes, I am currently withdrawing myself from it and removing all the references to it from my accounts (btw, RK, Micah or Stewart, could you remove me from SourceForge Xenocide project roster?). I am doing that due to agreement I will be signing, that basically says that 'all your bases now belongs to EA'. There are a few loopholes, that would allow me to work on outside project, but I would rather exploit them later, then now. I guess that is what I wanted to post at first. If you have some questions or something - please, go ask! Regards, mamutas P.S. EA studio in Florida hires masses and masses of new employees. Anyone wants to try his or her luck? mamutas
Thanks guys. Yeah, I am teaching'em here how to make a good games and how to run a good project on example of Xenocide. But seriously, there is a lot to learn for now, although there a few things I could teach them myself.Today, for example, I was invited to test Madden 2006 UI. The thing looks awesome overall, but there were a few things I pointed up as a possible improvements - let see if they make it into the final cut. Puasonen
Oh crap and on the other hand, congrats! A backstep for the xenocide project but a massive leap forward for your career. It would be so cool to be a game programmer or designer. I know I don't have the brains to do that but you do! Don't you be nervous, you have talent. Just use it
