Documentation Site Announcement

Dear Members,

As a project we are maturing and the good part of it is that we are doing and completing lots of tasks. The Issue Tracker has let us know what are the tasks that we need to do, and concentrate on what it is required.

Now I am going to announce the release of our new documentation site, as we found that the forums are not a very good way of store final information. Several times, new members find contradictory information cause sometimes members dig for information and refloat very old threads and those are stored upper in the view chain.

The documentation site's url is http://docs.projectxenocide.com . The rules to using it are simple, you can check them at the about link http://docs.projectxenocide.com/index.php/...mentation:About .

This new site is a tool that would let all members to be able to edit the information and create a web site colaboratively. The information stored in the site is considered to be the final resolution to issues, so if you find an error in it. Correct it or Report it.

Be aware that even if everybody can modify the site, only full members are allowed to do so. If everything goes ok, after a few months I will consider to extend the privilege to recruits too. You are advised in the about link what would happen if you break those simple rules.

If you are a recruit and need to modify anything, send the information to a member in your departament so they can modify it for you. You can even write the page in the Sandbox (link at the end of the main page) and point a member to add it to the main site branch.

Furthermore, the new documentation site do not override the need to work in the forums. However this new addition may trigger a forum restructuring and consolidation (make the forums less tree like) so if you have a suggestion on how the new forums may look like, post it in the Lounge if you are a full Member or if you are a Recruit write it down in this same thread (only complete suggestions, here, no discussion please).

I would like to publicly recognize Guyver's work of evaluating countless Wiki software to power the docs site. Mindstormmaster to install it at my request in less time that I had expected and all those that helped me to add information and define the current layout of the site. Kudos to you all.

Greetings

As an added announcement I had added the Community Portal to be used by either members, recruits and no members. If you are a recruit and want to commit something into the main site, you can work it out in the Community Portal and then point out a new member to move it to the Xenocide Documentation Site.

You can access it here: http://docs.projectxenocide.com/index.php/...ommunity_Portal

If you have an interesting article that may apply to Xenocide Development, Sounds, 3D Art tutorial, anything that can be usable for other members to do better stuff. Post it in there, either as an external link of as an edited text.

Enjoy.

Greetings
