Nintendo hasn't had a good idea in years.
The last good idea they had they blew up cause of arrogance, you see ..the PSX was supposed to originally be the answer to the Sega CD. Thats right the PSX was built for the Super Nintendo as a Attachment..look under your super it has a port slot that was never utilized this was to be for a CD slot.
The problem was that Nintendo and Sony were having disagreements as to what to call the new system (and of course MONEY ) as Sony wanted some recognition add to that the fact that Nintendo was talking to Trip Hawkins ( the creater of the 3DO) for the very same project. Sony got word of this and well needless to say they were not too pleased with it.
Eventually all was lost and the 2 separated ways Nintendo in its infinate wisdom thinking that would be the end of it...Not so ..Sony was peeved and decided to release the system on its own to heck with Nintendo..thus the Playstation was born.
Of course this put Nintendo wayy behind Sega who were already well on the way to finishing the Sega Saturn and Sony was just as near to completing the PSX (released in May 95 and Sep 95 respectivly) leaving Nintendo scrambling to make a Next Gen System to keep up and made the Laughable N64 in Dec 96.
Of the three "Next Gen Systems" structurally and power-wise the Saturn won Hands Down with three 32 bit processors and a Very good Lazer Design, Unfortunatly it really lacked in the Software dept and that ended up killing it altogether
Sony had the Worst of the three systems as it was notorious for breaking down ..heck the lazer assembly was designed as to be so easy to replace it did not even need a screwdriver to replace (after the housing was removed duhhh )...But oh the software so much of it and they even took Nintendo's Golden Apple when they signed Squaresoft to produce the Final Fantasy Series for them Exclusivly.
Nintendo? a new Cartidge based system ( no more powerful or as impressive as the Atari Jaguar-a "64"which had already come and gone years beforehand)where the EXACT same game on the PSX was as much as 40 dollars cheaper really says it all.
Nope Nintendo really blew it when they dropped Sony since then they went from being THE system to being the Joke of the Marketplace.
If you loved the Original Nes thats cool even the SNES is cool (but Genesis beat em on Sports) anything after that is Embarrassing to admit
