Exo2000
Now you can play the Superhuman Map on the Rookie difficulty of X-COM Apocalypse! Download the provided file and it'll overwrite a game in slot one. Change the extension to 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08 or 09 to overwrite a different slot. (Extract in different directory to do this.) If you want to make all future games on any difficulty use the Superhuman Map, all you need to do is four or five EASY PEASY steps. 1. Open "UFODATA"2. Make Backups of the Citymap1-5 files and .dats of the same names3. Put them somewhere safe4. Delete the ORIGINAL Citymap1-4 files and .dats of the same names5. Copy Citymap5 and Citymap5.dat four times and rename the copies into Citymap#/.dat 1 is Beginner2 is the level after that (?? Rookie? Skilled? ??)3 is Normal4 is Veteran5 is Superhuman If my savegame won't work and reverts to the old Beginner map, use the above steps and enjoy. REMEMBER, NOTHING BUT THE MAP IS CHANGED, THE DIFFICULTY SHOULD STAY THE SAME. You'll need good map coverage though, as there are lots of places for the Aliens to change their Dimension Gates to.RookieSuperMap.zip
Guest Azrael
Didn't know there were different, maybe I haven't played in a long time, are them too different from each other?
The Master Maniac
On Superhuman mode, the city starts much bigger, and you're stationed right next to the Temple of the Apocalypse (eek). Also, for some strange reason, X-Com owns the Recyclotorium next door to the starting base (?). Personally, I never had a problem with Superhuman difficulty myself, but this is a clever idea nonetheless. The Superhuman map makes the game a lot more interesting than the usual "city-block" Mega Primus. [NKF]
I kind of like some of the easier maps. The maps just looked nicer and some of them had good base layouts (not saying their locations were good). I just wished I could play them on superhuman difficulty. Speaking of bases, how many bases do you get? All 8? And what of the base corridor layouts? Are they the same or are they based on the difficulty level. - NKF
[Blehm 98]
on the level after begginer, none of the bases are down south, and there are only like... 5 suitable buildings. Maybe this superhuman map would be better(I like more bases, i hate losing them all)
Exo2000
All the bases are there and all have rather... unique... layouts... there are some really wacky ones Bases are randomized! My base is in the slums ;_; as usual. And I don't own a Recyclotorium. My fav CoS Temple is the "Temple of Sanity". There's a certain irony there. All CoS who enter lose theirs All the structure data (name, ownership?)/x-com base data (layout, location) is stored in the citymap#.dat which is why it is VITAL to make sure both files are replaced properly, otherwise, lotsa errors methinks. The citymap# file is the physical map of the city that vehicles interact with. EDIT: it crashz0red, but that was a one-off. I'm now by that Recyclotorium mentioned before. I have a base in the slums and I'm considering moving into the western and northern edges of the city to consolidate my holding grounds and make sure the aliens can't get in and out before I can get them. Tuoppi
The Aliens attacked my recyclotorium! Didn't notice to take a screenie, and not much else happened. Still it was a bit concerning to see "X-Com attacked by aliens" message. Luckily the damage done didn't cost me money. Had to spank their attack fleet (2 bombers+2 destroyers) and that cost me some hoverbikes. Damn them slimy creatures.
