Alien Base Sizes

One thing that bugged me about the original games was that whether a base was a month old or a year old, it was the same size.

 

If you pick up scouts establishing a base and send a squad in to blitz it within a month of its establishment, the mission should be realistic: a tiny base crawling with engineers, and with much less booty than a fully operational base.

 

Likewise, a base that's been established for more than a year could have a diverse population of "civilian" and military aliens; more machinery and more research opportunities, and be equipped with better defenses (for instance motion trackers that when activated send a squad of terrorists in your general direction).
