I restarted playing TFTD yesterday and i continued the game today.

Terror Mission : Tokyo
Difficulty : Veteran
Day/Night :Day

So i started this terror mission, worried a bit because it's still early in game( End of March, 1st year). I had 6 Sonic Pistols with 24 clips on board.(i know it's alot :P)

Once it started, ended the turn right away( they have full TU :P). Once it got back to me, i opened the door and spotted a Calcinite, killed it and was woundering who usually raids with Calcinites.
I end the turn, once it gets back to me, i redo the same thing, Aquatoid spotted, and got killed.
I end the turn, and again, reopen the door, i spot an other Calcinite. I kill it and repeat the same thing.

Now my turn, i take one step outside and i spot an alien. I killed it and walked back in.

I kept doing this trick and it really worked here. This Triton was an Alien Magnet. ROFL

Then the trick stopped working, so now i stepped outside and stayed out. End turn, nothing happened.
Took some steps further... Aquatoid spotted: It was unarmed. killed it right away.
Then i went out with 2 more soldiers. I ended a couple of turns . an other Aquatoid was spotted and it was also uanrmed. I killed it.

I wasn't really far away of my Triton . I got close to a house and a Calcinite started to wander in and out of it. i had one soldier there and killed it.

Last Alien (Calcinite) was found stuck behind a table inside a house. It was very close to an Aquatoid that i didn't recall killing cause it was behind the Triton. I was surprised seeing it there.

Total : 7 Calcinites killed and 7 out of 8 Aquatoids killed.

I somehow got 1 alive on that mission. :)

It was finally the Alien that i didn't recall killing. I did notice 2 squares away of that alien, a Human laying there. So he probably stunned the Human and took a nap in the same time :P.

Well.. that alien was a squad leader :D

Gotta love the Triton. Some missions (As long as there isn't any mind control involved) can be completed without even leaving the sub - assuming the aliens continue wandering about and don't halt in place, which they tend to do after a while.

LOL, indeed the fastest terror mission ever!

I know there are some imbalances in TFTD in harder levels, like the +100% accuracy for some aliens... I hope you don't lose all those men in later missions.

Cheers

this does NOT work for me....

for some reason when i open alien doors be it colony, sub, interior doors, what have you, they seem to randomly stay open 1-3 turns (both sides) and then shut with no rhyme or reason,

the triton door however,

it opens once & stays open forever, regardless of turn, it is always open & aliens can shoot me like sitting ducks in that thing...

the first time i tried this tactic i got a grenade in the triton & it killed 12 & fatally wounded another... epic failure

is there a reason why the door isn't shutting?

as i seem to gather that for everyone else it does?
continually contemplating my eternal eternity

That sounds odd if it happens right off the bat. However, the only time I know where this happens is when you save your game with the door open, and then reload the game. The game stuffs up and doesn't know how to close the door again.

Actually, that reminds of really weird trick I noticed in the transport liner mission when you exit the Triton door and try to walk through the nearest door into the ship. Can't remember the circumstances, but I was able to have the door swing into the other wall. Might have involved opening a door while an alien was on the other side. Changed the graphic of the wall to another wall block entirely. Must see if I can replicate this...

I'm sure I've done this in UFO's farm map as well. Think it coincides with 'mutual surprise' moments.

Aquatoids and Gilmen walking outside your Triton's door makes for an easy mission. Bio Dones waiting outside your Triton's door ready to cut you to pieces with 100% reaction fire not so much.
