Turbo Beholder
Ummm........ just wondering here, but isnt X-Com the best of the best. If your best of the best X-Com soldiers die against aliens with super tech and training, what chance does a fat American with a dirty Ak stand? Absolutely none. Thats the whole point! Yes, but there's difference between berserk attack and holding good defensible position, after all. Yeah a cult of sirius clone would be intresting. But think about it, in apoc the human weapons were reasonably good. It would be pretty fun to see a cultist shoot at your power armored guy with a pistol but would serve no real purpose. If we give them alien tech though... <imagines a civilian with a pistol and no armor trying to take on a muton terror site> Why pistol ? Shotgun (slug or even strung shot), incendiary, explosives. Maybe, sometimes chainsaw. Anyway, in the case "1 Muton vs 1 good hunter with good ammo" i'd order refrigerator unit for alien corpse even before i'd hear 2 loud bangs. And 2 refrigerator units for 2 Mutons. Though with 3 Mutons working together, i'd ordered 1 coffin and 1 refrigerator (since 2 Mutons must be already rotten when X-Com sniper will manage to hit last one). Since shotgun does lots of damage at short range, even if buckshot will not penetrate deep, we still can see Muton lying on back... face down. And slug can just fail to notice that extra vaporable layers and other specific anti-heat-impact protections makes armor, even if this stops thin flechette. After all, hard slug can slay bear or split massive cast iron motor block. It have nearly 2x more muzzle energy than .50 BMG, which is used against armored targets. Also, police, swat, and armies would be intresting and realistic. In the beginning, we could make it so that there are only a couple of police who survived. Once your weapons surpass the cops/whatevers then there would be more. The cops would always use basic human tech (no lasers) and would only have basic xcorps armor. Why it's "realistic" ? They'll survive more because they'll slowly learn to hear "guard perimeter" command of their bosses instead of jumping at aliens ? Natural choice ? BTW, both police teams and some unarmed civilians could have basic medical skills and first-aid kits and thus be able to help wounded X-Com operatives as well as NPCs. Sharp
Â But on-topic, I would like to see armed civvies as well, on oneside the make good plasma fodder and on the other side they get into fights so are more likely to die (and lead to bad points for xcom). Judge_Deadd
It might get a little crazy. Imagine the occassional housewife running wild with a rolling pin and giving the aliens a healthy dose of head bonking.
Turbo Beholder
It might get a little crazy. Imagine the occassional housewife running wild with a rolling pin and giving the aliens a healthy dose of head bonking. Yet another possibility: "Fido ! Drop this ! Bad boy ! You'll have dyspepsia ! Hey, someone knows good vet who survived all this turmoil ? And where to send Snakeman's right hand ?"
Markowic
Hi there, But as someone said about negative points when we kill civies what you say about civies under alien control shooting you? In a ethereal terror site you can find dozens of civies shooting you. Another thing to think is and if civies get confused about who is friend or enemy and shoot you guessing you are one of then?
