Ending Credits

Hey folks-

I just took my first gander over to the Art Department, and I was literally floored by the sights I saw- they're absolutely fantastic! Keep up the spectacular work, guys! =b

In any case, I was thinking that for the end credits (or an Easter egg), it would be neat if we had maybe a slideshow of some their sketches. I really enjoyed seeing their work evolve from concept to finished product.

Heck, while I'm dreaming, I might as well also suggest a short animation of the laser pistol's development. I feel that this would give players a subtle reminder that Xenocide was built from the ground up. Who knows? It might also make them play again. :P

Well, just my couple pennies.

My laser pistol? :blush1:

how flattering  :)

I like the idea, but maybe only if you got all research done? If not, you won't see the sketches.

Well, in addition to being up to the high standard that I've come to expect (after 1 day!) from the Art Department, I noticed that your Laser Pistol had a lot of pictures and discussion showing intermediate stages of progress. It would be nice to be able to convey to the player the amount of effort put into Xenocide. Sort of like a mini-"Making of Xenocide" show.

How about this: if the player completes every research topic, (s)he gains the final research topic- "Project Xenocide"- that either:

1.) only gives a short description (Since our scientists have not been able to uncover the wonders and universal truths contained within, they have adopted a wait-and-see attitude regarding this research topic). Then at the end of the game, they see the Final X-Net entry, or:

2.) never finishes researching, only displaying a perpetual "Progress: Unknown" :sgrin: (at the end of the game, it displays "Project Xenocide. Progress: Complete" and unlocks the Final X-Net entry). I like the symbolism of this one. :)

I would volunteer my services to create said slideshows, as I have attempted to do before - and although I have not seen the pictures Astyanax refers to, I would be happy to create something.

Ohhhhh, I could go SO far with this!!!

Well, space would be taken up by every slide (ie photo) which I would like to be at LEAST 800x600, which would be in the region of up to 100kb, I assume - would depend. Add to that any music, or possibly as you mention, video, which takes about 1mb/sec, and you can see where this would lead.

I mean, I have done some slideshows before - I will find a specific link shortly, but although I don't think they were THAT good (I made music that went on it too!!) They were about 3 mins long, and I forget how big.

Finally - I like your ideas, maybe they could work??!! Webcams at least!! I mean I have a 640x480 webcam, and have about 5GB of footage, but with the right lighting, the quality really has been excellent.

PS What I actually meant about space, was whether we could tack it on to the actual game, but as I recall RK mentioning, we may need a DVD for it anyhow, I don't think there would be much room :D

Edit: this is the link

I took a look at that link, dipstick... and that sample looks great! It's especially nice for people who can't even run Xenocide on their computers (like me :( ).
