Damn, and I choose this time to send my audo system back to manufacturer, have to listen through broken headphones :(.

And it is damn hard to choose...

#4 has a chorus , but it is a bit too creepy, in a sence that it is more sutable for a game with ghosts and vampires. Maybe we can introduce some traditionally creepy aliens with it (we have something like that, no?)?

#1 is even more creepy :), but this time in a proper alien sence. And I realy like those drums, they give it a feeling of a fight. And this one I like the most to listen to.

#2 is imperial and space based, good for a flight to Mars. Or for arrival of a really big alien space fleet (dreadnoughts and bigger with escort ships). Although I'm not sure our aliens have capital ships, it is more like fighters and freighters only (you wouldn't want to go atmospheric on a capital ship :)).

#3 is most xenocidish, true, and is very good for unconditional sound track to play on the globe, or maybe on the battlefield. But I still like #1 more for main theme :).

#5 has a violin  (or its electronic equialent, hard to say in those headphones), and it is best of them all to loose under. It has a feeling of heroism and tragedy.

So, my vote is for #1

Can we use them all as soundtracks or as music to movies? After all, there is no such thing as too much music...

PS

No heavy metal. I'm dissapointed :).

Let's see....

1# was very alienesque, but had a slower start. Besides that, the extreme change of pace lead me to dislike the song a bit, even though it's very very nice. It kept fucus on this being an alien game, but did not sway from the fact that it's an action video game; the piece at 00:33 reminded me of an alien version of the Battlefield Intro, which is quite quite nice. That piece should've run a lot better through the piece, combined at the 2:48 vibes. Would IMO have made it more stand-forward and personal, especially if it replaces the huge ammount of alien voices at 00:50 to 01:30. The intro was a bit slow... Oh, what the heck; MP3-player'ed.

2# Much faster beginning; great. Liked the overall effect. Some of the tunes was a bit on the poorer side, though; needed more oomph. Also felt quite short.

3# Nice dramatic buildup, culminating in a quite alienic theme. Quite well done; overall effect, and effects used were great A bit on the short side as well, but not really noticable. However, the one reason why I don't think this one would win is, that i don't think the core line throughout the music was placed right; should've been further back, and (if possible) have another instrument playing; something a little more beat up. And those flute lines are just shuckronies.

4# Too....... 80ies alienic. Overall effect was nice, but doesn't represent Xenocides more actionpacked sides properly - The action in it doesn't seem...... right. It's a mix between horror, oprah, and fast rock, really. Could've been much better if it had lost the 80'ish sounds and the weird sound effects. Can't see it as a main theme either.

5# Lots of potential. The chosen main line was excelent beat-wise. But it was too... happy. Usable as a 'game done' theme, but not as a startup main theme. Put it on my MP3 Player, but I can't see it that much of a main theme, sorry.

edit: After lots of time with both songs (1 and 5), I've decided that 5 is better then 1. Even though it's that great and all.

Hmmmm.... My votes on.... #5

Proposed Xenocide use:

- Number 2 would go well for Mars Mission music.

- Number 3 as, previously stated, a background 'going to mars' movie.

- Number 4 as Lost Game Music (all the ghosty voices.... why did lose our lives) if it loses the whistles and the other medivalish sounds, and the beated up sounds.

- Number 5 could go well as a Won Game Movie and Main Theme

#1

It manages to stay true to the very original one, and still add something new

Okay I downloaded them to my desktop. Mixed them and here is the order I listened to them

#3 I was very impressed (the reference to Holsts Mars movement near the end got a thumb-up from me)

#1 is a fine piece of music. Too ambient for a main theme though, i'd be fantastic battlescape music.

#5 is excellent but I like 3 better. This piece would be excellent as the "off to cydonia" music.

#4 I LOVE THE THERAMIN!!!!!!!!! What is the choir singing? It's cheesy but you know what; so what, it's great I love it.

#2 is excellent but I like 3 and 4 better. This piece would be excellent as the "off to the first ground assault in the game" music

These are all fine music. You guys are very good at what you do. I dont want to lose a single one of these pieces of music and demand the ones that dont win be incorporated into the game somehow.

I'm down to 3 and 4; let me listen to them again.

#3 is definitely the most "professional" of the music presented.

#4 is the only piece that has what I can only describe as "character"

and again

#3 is musically coherant throughout

#4 this is my favorite piece of the five

but

#3 does make the better "Main Theme" and so gets my vote

#4 how ever would be excellent for the closing credits.

First, congratulations to all participants. Very, very good themes. Unfortunately we have to choose just one for main theme...

Well, My vote goes to Entry #3

Why? Because it has a lot of action feeling to it and still keeps the sci-fi ambience. Plus, it has very rich melodic parts that can be dismantled in subparts, something very useful when we start to make the tracks based on the main theme. Bring it on, leit motif!

That's all. =b

I must say I was impressed by all five songs. I've listened to them all multiple times, and #3 and #5 are my total favorites.

#5 had something very "valiant" to it, which I liked (saving the world and all that), but it wasn't scary enough, too cheerful as someone put it. So my vote goes to #3.

Well done to all artists!

Oh damn! I loved all of them in their own ways. How the heck did we find all these talented guys?!

Can't we use all of these?

If someone would point a gun on to my head and made me choose, I'd probably choose #3 because it's the most suitable for main theme. I think #4 was best though.

#3 it is

I don't think anything I want to say hasn't been said here. Just that I had a hard time choosing, congrats to all contestants =b

Unfortunately, there simply has to be chosen one, and for me #3 seems the one best fitting the theme. So there it is, finally voted :)
