Colorizing soldiers armor or camo. of tanks could be very nice. I always like to create different squads for different operations. Squads could bear their own insignia and color scheme or even banners. Anyone has played "Incubation:Time is running out" knows it.
This is a graphical stuff and wont effect playability however it could be very good I think.

The beauty of having a modable game is that all the player needs to do is rework the skins of the soldier models and hey presto you have exactly what you're asking for

sure should be cool. i remember in Syndicate Wars how you could press a key during battle to change the color of your men's suit.
