Kharille
I admired Julian Gollop since the late 80's. He had this game, rebelstar raiders which was way back. Everything took place on one screen. After that there were more indepth games like Rebelstar which involved scrolling screens. Check the Wikipedia entries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xcom X-COMFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.(Redirected from Xcom)Jump to: navigation, search X-COM is a series of computer games, started by MicroProse in 1994. The first three titles were strategy games while the fourth was an action-based space combat/strategy game. The first two installments, X-COM: UFO Defense (also known as UFO: Enemy Unknown in Europe) and X-COM: Terror from the Deep, were written by a team led by Julian Gollop and are considered the hallmarks of the series. These first two games also show strong similarities to games such as Rebelstar and Laser Squad for the ZX Spectrum, including names of organisations such as Marsec. All titles were developed for the PC, with a few less-successful ports to the Sony PlayStation and Amiga. The first three titles were originally developed to run under DOS, and have subsequently been ported to run under Microsoft Windows using DirectX. X-COM: UFO Defense was the best selling computer game of 1995 and is considered a true classic, and despite its age, still has a large following. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Gollop Games * Rebelstar: Tactical Command (2005) * Laser Squad Nemesis (2002) * Magic And Mayhem (1998) * X-COM: Apocalypse (1997) * X-COM: Terror from the Deep (1994) * X-COM: UFO: Enemy Unknown (1994) * Lords of Chaos (1990) * Laser Squad (1988) * Rebelstar II (1988) * Rebelstar (1986) * Chaos (1985) * Rebelstar Raiders (1984) * Nebula (1984) * Islandia (1983) * Time Lords (1983) The man's works are amazing. Lords of Chaos was a fun game. Anyone else here played the Spectrum in the 80's?

And I still play Laser Squad and Rebelstar Raiders using an emulator
Kharille
Great stuff. I got the spectrum emulator but the starlinggale and the 3rd mission don't run too well. You got any suggestions where I can find a functioning copy?
Hobbes
You mean Laser Squad? Have you tried World of Spectrum?
Kharille
Oh yeah, been here before. For some reason the emulator freezes if I try to load up the 2nd and 3rd rebelstar raiders games. Moonbase still works.
Pherdnut
Uh... I thought Julian had nothing to do with TFTD. I don't think Mythos touched that game. If they did, there's no way they would have gone with all the same tech.
