SND - USELESS - Music Drafts

Xcen

Recommended Posts

Here are a few riffs I've pulled out of my magic hat...

Nothing is complete but they give a general idea onthe style I tend to use...

I wanted to know what people think of it as I will work on the ones that get the best feedback ;P

Thanks

(Files are in MP3 Format for compability reasons and I have given them silly code name for the sheer fun of it.)

Xcen they're excellent! I'm really impressed!!!!!

The first one:
would make a good choose-your-game settings piece.

The second one:
I like that it's chromatic! =b
I think it would go well for the outfit-your-soldiers-just-before-the-mission screen.

The third one:
would be good for "Inside the UFO" music, I'm thinking Sectoids.

The fourth one:
It's the second one with different voices right? Nothing wrong with that, use it for the soldier outfit screen to give variety.

Dont know anything about music... but in my opinion.

1st) Great. But as Stewart just for settings.
2nd and 4th) Just plain Amazing it remainds me to Emperor Battle for Dune soundtrack... It could be cool in the before entering the mission, but my brother said, that with a more powerful bass it could be better to the start of the battlescape mission.
3th) I dont know what it is i dont like about this one, maybe it is just too noisy (with high frequency noise) and slow.

Greetings

That's an excellent idea, RK. Either 2 or 4 plays as you outfit then the other plays at the start of battlescape until the first alien is sighted in which case the alien race based music starts. Since 2 and 4 are so similar it would give continuity between outfitting and battlescape.

Granted the third piece is cacophonic (fancy word for chaotic) but I think it has a bizzare alien feel. You'd almost expect the inside of a UFO to sound like this.

The first one I don't really like... it need a lot more work...

Ok Portishead album is over and I can listen to my songs to remember which is which hehehe....

For the second, not sure if I got what Red said but I have a small tribute bassline I could place in there ;)

Third one, I think we'll have to drop the weird intro (btw that's a drumkit I made with my zippo lighter you hear, lol.)

Fourth is kinda similar to second now that you mention it... I could try to fuse them together...

this is just my opinion so dont be offended:
1 and 4 were good ...noting eles to say about 'em
3 was crap imo maybe coz of the high sound or whuteva

2 kicked donkey ... maybe add mo speed to it i mean bass wise ...could u do that?

*thinking about downloading 2 one and writing it on a golden cd and putting it into frames and hanging on the wall*

thats how much i liked it :D

I've got to agree with everyone here, they are very atmosperic. I agree with Stewart on track 3. Definitely alien. If it was set up for the equp screen for an alien base attack, it'd give the feeling of uncertanty and because it's a tonal quality the player might get unnerved enough to make a mistake in choosing equipment.

That was the firt impression I got from it. After the first time equiping then it wouldn't have as much impact, but then it wouldn't have to, first impressions being what they are, should set the tone for any more alien base attacks.

I also think that the equip screen should have a slightly different colouration, maybe a reddish background. Something subtle, but enough to change the player's perspective.

Xcen, are you familiar with Front line assembly? I think a musical style like theirs with the technicality of Jean Michel Jarre would work well for the battlescape. Sort of a mix between ambient and Industrial. I think something lighter would work for the geoscape, maybe something that gives the player a sense of slight tension would work.

For the interception music, something fast and heavy?

What's wrong with you?!
In simple code: 2 > 3 = true

(BTW I know the ding ding ding is $/"?"/ annoying hehehe, I made this track under an old tracker some month ago and I was thiking about converting it to the new format I'm using... I'll do it if people like it otherwise I won't bother. (and then I'll fix the ding ding) )
