Pastafarian
I'm fighting a base defense battle against Snakemen, and although I've killed all the aliens I can find and spent some time wandering around looking for more, the battle won't end. This happened to me once before a couple years ago, also while fighting Snakemen, and some people here helped me out, so hopefully you'll be able to again. Last time the problem was that an enemy had gotten off the edge of the map. For starters, where is the save file located? I poked around a bit but couldn't find anything X-Com related. [NKF]
The save files are stored in the directories labeled game_1 through game_10 in the game's folder. Are you using the Steam release? If you are, then from what I recall Steam stores the game in a rather deep folder structure of its own. I don't use the Steam release so don't know the folder path, but you could do a file search of the hard drive the game's on and look for all instances of, say, liglob.dat to point you in the right direction as where the game is stored. That file is one of the files created in the savegame folders. As for your problem, unless it is off the map, it may just need a more thorough search. - NKF Edited December 17, 2010 by NKF
Pastafarian
I found the save folder, and I've looked around quite a bit with no luck. The base isn't all that complex and if nothing else the alien should have found me by now. Would you or someone else please take a look? I'd try myself, but the editing programs don't really like 64 bit Windows, and I really don't know what I'm doing. Which of the files in the save folder are relevant? [NKF]
You'd be looking at unitref.dat and unitpos.dat, but if you want someone to have a proper look at it, your best bet is to zip the whole savegame folder. - NKF

[NKF]
It's in one of the little corner rooms in the top hangar. It's right next to two dead snakemen near the entrance where the two hangars connect. - NKF
