Puasonen
Map problems maybe? I have played TFTD for a long time now, and in the beginning, I had problems when going to ANY mission. Sometimes the game crashed when triton arrived to crashsite/ufo/terrormission/any mission. It just crashes and comes back to windows (xp). Now the problem come more and more often and today I experienced that even loading million times won't help, I can't go to missions anymore!! Maybe you understand that finishing this game will be hard if I can't get to missions!

Puasonen
Yesterday I found allmost a similar problem here in this forum, someone had a problem with "hidden movement" because it made the game crash and return to windows. There somebody had fixed the problem by moving the game to new directory. Well I tried that, didn't work. But I got it to work when I put from the properties of the program the option "run in windows 95 simulator" or something like that... Now it works fine again!! Collin
If you want to try the compatibility thingy..... Right click on the link (on your desktop for instance) to the game, go to properties and there is a compatibility button. Try that one..... Guest bagelx
If you are using the dos version on a WINXP, with the moving to/from 2nd levels, I had the same problem. I did all the stuff I knew how to do and still can't fix it. (meaning, it prob can't be fixed) If you want to keep trying using XP, try diabling directx, video acceleration, etc. Next, try to use different comp, diff OS, etc lastly, get the TFTD collections edition that is reworked for windows If you can get Col ED. , it will almost guaranteed to work on any Windows. I haven't encounted the other popular crashes ppl have, like the first turn, first movement, or the hiddem movement crahes mentioned. But I do get occaison other crashes with the DOS version, which come and goes randomly, so that's okay. For CE, I remembered i had some minor crashes also, but that had went away, but I forgot why. Maybe it's because I am using the "xcom2.fix" and music fix from this site (for CE only). For all of you who wants CE, my only hint is: look hard on the internet, it's out there. I found out that it was when i started usin Plastics Aqua Armor. If all my soldiers have no armor theres no problem. I dont know how to fix it though... Puasonen
That sounds strange.. Maybe some files are corrupted? Re-install and if it doesn't help, get another copy of the game and try that..
Guest Guest
Umm... Guys good news and bad... I have the same problem but now its fix..(thats the good news). The bad news is the version you all have cannot be fix! I had to fine a more "newer" version of the game. This new version should have a fix exe. file as well... LOOK ON THE INTERNET! good lucks guys! (the newer version should have a full motion video as an intro)
