misiek
Hello, What is a status of project xenocide? Is it still being worked on?I see that Dteviot isn't commiting as much as he did onbeginning of the year Does it make sense to continue this project? Wouldn'tit be better to join forces with UFO: Alien Invasionand help them?
kafros
There are practically no active members, so the answers to the questions are:1) Frozen2) No3) Maybe4) No (no active developers -> no1 to help there)
misiek
But you have many assets (models, sound).Maybe they could adapt them somehow (for many it will be impossible because of different storyline).
kafros
No1 here wants to, no1 there wants to, and sometimes it isn't even technically feasible (at least not without much hassle) It's the fate of most open source projects without a strong core/dev team
misiek
It's just sad that so much work is wasted...
kafros
Not wasted, it's here for everyone to freely take and improve! That's the point of open source you know
[dteviot]
It's not dead yet.I do plan on comming back and working on it.It's just I've gotten distracted with other projects at the moment.
rversaw
I still want to spend more time on the project, but I've been quite busy with school, work, and other things at the moment. I don't know about the UFO: Alien Invasion project, but I'm much more comfortable with C# and XNA at the moment than other languages, so I'm more inclined to work on Project Xenocide. kafros
Nice , don't forget that Real Life comes before anything else! Xenocide uses XNA (thus C#), UFO: AI uses a form of the Quake3 engine (thus C), everyone will program in the platform and language of his choice. Programming in a real project is an interesting experience nevertheless
