Robo Dojo 58
The basic idea is, you research a living silacoid, and a dead silacoid. Then, you capture a few of them, and put them into a special facility. Just like the alien base farms, X-Corps has a mini farm module devoted to using living Silacoids, and producing alien alloys. IIRC, silacoids can only be found in alien bases, making them difficult to capture. Even though, they're mostly harmless. The facility is difficult to use, because you'd need several living silacoids to fill the module. But, one silacoid will grow one unit of alien alloy every few days. The module can hold 8 silacoids (two in each corner chamber, or 8 in a large central chamber), and gets harvested at the end of each week, producing from 20-50 alien alloys at full capacity. Judge_Deadd
So, Silacoids make alien alloys?I didn't knew that...
Cpl. Facehugger
So it would be like, free alien alloys? But by the time sillacoids start showing up, don't you have hundreds of alien alloys by this point? Now if sillacoids could produce elerium, that would work really well. Robo Dojo 58
Hmm... yeah, I was wondering how to make that work. Well, if you're growing the alien alloys, you can control how they are formed, their shape, thickness, etc. Having alloys already in the shape that you need, will cut down on the time needed to shape the alloys for manufacturing. Craft use a ton of alloys that need to be shaped, so having them already grown in the proper shape will help alot. It'd cut down on construction time considerably. Also, the alloys can be grown to replace holes in X-Corps craft. It may be tough to patch up a craft, so why not put on a new, ready-grown plate? Craft repair times will be cut down by a ton, because replacement materials can be grown much faster than they could be repaired or manufactured. Unless Silacoids have Elerium in their blood, it doesn't look like they can be farmed for it.
UnknownWarrior
I never had any trouble with alloys but for the people who do have problems with it would love this idea, but I just don't understand it. Where does it say silicoids make alien alloys?
Robo Dojo 58
This thread. Those little red rocks, that you only find at bases, will finally have a purpose. (to the aliens, at least)
Cpl. Facehugger
Actually, they were found at muton terror sites too.
Pheonix
... Who cares about Alien Alloys? My engineers can make alloys. Silacoids should make Elerium 115. Good idea though.
