Unreachable Crash Site

Has anybody encountered anything like this:

 

I shot down a UFO and it lands on the ruins of the building that it has destroyed. When I want to investigate it (it is mothership), my plane just hangs above it and doesn't do anything. WTF?

 

In a related story. When I was recovering previous mothership, a strange thing hapened to me. One of my soldier teleported himself in the midst of alient and killed every single one of them. However, not all alient were bunched together so he discovered himself with no units to go surrounded by brainsucker pods. I gave turn to aliens and all brainsuckers poped open. They each tried to jump on my guy's head and none of them succeeded. When it was my turn again, the guy was surrounded by brainsuckers from every direction. Explanation anybody?

Did you try "Attack UFO" or "Go To Destination" button? Try both, one might work.

I hope you have in that ship soldiers, and modules (transport, bio) too

That's the thing - neither command work.  Go to building, go to a destination, attack ufo - none of those work.  The escort ufo's don't want to leave either as if the mothership is still flying.  Very, very strange

So the mothership is already landed, smoke is coming out, etc....? Sometimes is taking a second or two for it to land.

Did you try using the top view or the isometric view for those commands?

As to go to building, I'm really puzzled, the ship usually goes if you send it to a building. Strange indeed :wacko:

Actually, it might be because the UFO has not yet touched the ground and is really stuck in mid air. But then again, UFOs are very selective when it comes to crashing. If there's a building under them, they seem to stop and purposefully drift aside until they can find a clear spot to land on.

 

If you really can't get it - don't worry about it. Either blow it up manually or let it disappear. There are plenty more where that came from - unless you're like me and clear out the AD at the earliest opportunity.

As for the brainsuckers - you mean they all failed and there were still some brainsuckers waiting to attack? Or you mean they jumped repeatedly but could not land on you?

About UFO: it landed and i waited for about half an hour - still couldn't get to it. I tried everything - both views, all the commands. It was strange because the transport vehicle did not want to land to raid the building either. When I clicked "attack building" it aimed at the UFO instead, but did not shoot at it. I know I can just let go, it just bugs me.

 

About brainsuckers: all of them actually tried to jump on soldier's head, one by one. Each went almost up on his head, wiggled his little ... leg-like protrusions and went down. Soldier was not sitting or crawling.

i think it happens if you shoot it down at the exact right time as it is dropping troops or something

Hmm. I'm pretty sure I've shot down lots of ships when they were unloading troops, I don't think that would cause it. What may cause it is if you disable the UFO when it is flying on the middle of a large building's roof. If the UFO was low enough (or the building high enough) that the UFO would be almost grazing agains the rooftop, I guess when you disable it, it wouldn't have enough time to slide over. That NEVER happened to me though.

 

About brainsuckers, I don't play turn based (99% of the time). I've seen brainsuckers playing hokey pokey when soldiers are moving in real time (they try jumping on, miss, etc) but why would that happen turn based? Maybe they ran out of TUs? All of them?

Can't you order the attack command on the UFO and zap to it with Ultra-fast time? Strange if you can't...

 

No. You can't use the fastest timesetting when UFOs are on the loose. You have to use the second-fastest setting.

Only if they're still flying. If they're all on the ground, you can use ultra fast.

Ground as in crashed, yes. But if there's UFOs flying around, you can't.

 

I did have one point where a big 4-square UFO took several MINUTES ingame to choose where to crashland. It kept moving up and down and all over the place. It was funny. :D

Funny.

 

I got a few days before an other thing. Four Ufos tried to destroy my base.

Game level = medium or normal or how it is called. My Base was in the middle of the map and looked like :

xxxxxx

xx

xx

xxxxxx

xxxxxx

 

Finally I got the four ufos ( 2 bomber, 2 escorts ) down, lost a few of the bikes, but my hawk survived.

My basebuilding was half destroyed, all the streets destroyed, and now the strange thing happened! My Crafts were not able to land for a few days in my base! Tried to save and reload, restart the game, nothing worked. My Crafts had to sit for a few days at the transstellar airport before my base was rebuild and then they were able again to land there. From my view, the landing pod was not covered with ruins, it was all the time free.

thats happened to me, where i attack a CoS building, and my valkyrie just keeps going up and down over my landing pod, and can't land, while he's being shot at by 6 hoverbikes
