Startup Problem

Recommended Posts

The only thing that happened is a desktop resolution switch, then

I get a nice windows exception dialog (exception C000005)

Both log files are empty.

AthlonXP 1.6, WinXPSP1, 256MB, DX9.0b, NVIDIA GF2

I also tried the alpha4-demo on a notebook with some XP-home on it.

No idea what kind of video is inside...

Upon start, it switched resolution, and then nothing happened, for at least 2-3 minutes.

Taskmanager showed 60-70% CPU, and 60-70 MB memory usage.

I think a splash-screen at startup would be nice,

and some messages like "detected video=x, initiializing y ..."

would be even better.

Perhaps this info nicely formatted for pasting into a bugreport ?

The alpha is an alpha which was the implementation of just a few of our ideas for Xenocide. The next alpha is being designed using a more compatible rendering engine that will probably run for you.

p.s. The resolution-changing was our splash screen :)

I have similar problem. Similar in the fact that it too involves an exception error. Here's the errors I get:

Click on "xenocide-0.0.6-IR.exe.torrent":

Save screen opens, save as default name, BitTorrent download(?) screen opens.

Error= DOWNLOAD ERROR:

Problem connecting to tracker- AN EXCEPTION HAS OCCURED!:

An exception has been thrown!
