Guest Dan Forever
Will gameplay be turnbased or real time a la Apocalypse?
red knight
It will be turn based, because it is based on UFO Enemy Unknown Greetings Red Knight
Guest Dan Forever
aw damn, my personal experience with X-Com is Apocalypse (the best game in existance I might add), and I was put off the turn-based mode after, in one turn, an alien brainsucker ran out, jumped on one of my guys and turned him to the darkside in one go ;( I do remember playing terror from the deep demo ages ago though, not having a clue as to what I was doing but having a heck of a lot of fun at the same time Still, I hope this project goes well, and inspires companies to start making x-com style games! red knight
You bet that we all hope some companies revisit the turn based style games... Greetings Red Knight
Puasonen
I really never even tried to play apoc in real time. Just played it through in turn based mode. And I didn't like it as much as enemy unknown but liked it a lot anyway. I'm miserable 'cause incoming ufo: aftermath will be somekinf of an mix of turn based and real time. WHY!? Turn based has a kind of feeling that will never be able on real time..! Edited July 30, 2003 by j'ordos
miceless
I on the other hand have never played it in turn based mode. Its a nice change from playing turn based all the time, so i like the real time.
Guest Dan Forever
I think UFO Aftermath play style will be similar to Apoc's realtime. Basically realtime in apoc is generally played at "half speed" (half a second every actual second) though it also be paused and sped up. If you haven't played that mode before I emplore you to

I have a ripped version of apoc and it works with win xp but 'cause it's ripped, music is missing and I can't get into the feeling without real apoc music. And also have a damn mouse problem, autoscroll in cityview doesn't work. Works left and down but if I try to scroll up or righ with mouse.. problems start, screen starts jumping left and right :crying: So I can't play it anymore.. Guest Dan Forever
yeah I can't play either - I'm on win2k. I'm currently waiting for DOSBox to impliment Protected mode support so I can play it again (cba to load up win98). I believe this site mentions ways of getting the games. Take a look :o Bah, site seems to be down atm
miceless
People have asked where they can get the game on here before, so its available through people here. Do a search if you're interested. I am interested in where Nyyperoid got his copy from. Was it here or somewhere else?

[stewart]
Wouldn't real-time in X3 feel a lot like Syndicate?
Cpl. Facehugger
I imagine so. Then again, AM is using a very similar system, and I can attest to the fact that in apoc, it is fun.

Jenny
Turnbased in X-com 3 was more of a hassle than anything else, I played it with realtime only.
Cpl. Facehugger
Yup, Im with you, Turnbased apoc was for me an exercise in tediousness.
