Horoma
Just an idea, don't know if anyone tried something similar before. Of course, to be a challenge, this also includes playing on superhuman, no reload, no psi attacks and no cheats. The alien menace created a massive outbreak of fear amongst mankind. People are so scared, that X-com is having problems to find new recruits. Everyone wants the aliens stopped, but only few people have the guts to do it. - As a result, you may only buy 1 soldier each month. This means survival of your soldiers becomes far more important. - As a side-effect though, your new hires would always have high bravery. I don't know if it's easy to edit the game to always have high bravery.- Alterrnatively, you may buy 4 extra soldiers at the start, but after that, you are limited to buying 1 soldier per 3 months.- Perhaps you could also add a limit to buying tanks. I think I'm gonna try something like this in TFTD. Any thoughts/suggestions/remarks ? Edited September 7, 2006 by Horoma
Robo Dojo 58
Can you say Tanks? This would definately be a tank heavy game. Tanks to scout, tanks to shoot things up, tanks to take hits, with a few support troops in the rear. Losses certainly won't be cheap, with the cheapest tanks being worth half a million. It'll also make the laser/gauss tank very useful in the early and mid game. UFO assaults will be a pain. With such a limited crew pool, you may only have enough soldiers to do one large ufo every few months. That is, until you can "make" a tank enterance, heheh. Horoma
Yeah, tanks would be important. But, tanks are expensive, so you can't afford to lose them too often. You'll definitely need to avoid losses (both tanks & soldiers), so retreat will be necessary when the odds are against you. Armor and medikits will be even more important, and those motion scanners will certainly prove their value. Colonies, artifact sites and especially base attacks will all be seen from an entirely different perspective. And never mind dead civilians on terror missions, just make sure your soldiers survive the mission.
[NKF]
You know, I'm getting the picture that explosives will feature a lot in this game. High explosives. Well, at least they do for me whenever I try playing my silly solo-assault refresher mission. But in my case it's not exactly a proper game - and I get to fail. A lot. Still, an almost-all-tank game does have a certain appeal. Would make your base defence a peace of cake once you got the fusion tank. But until then, it sounds like it would be an absolute nightmare until you've got a reasonable amount of troops. - NKF Edited September 11, 2006 by NKF
