My Xcom Apocalypse Solution Under Win Xp

Recommended Posts

First, let me state that I own both the original Xcom Apocalypse and the CE version in CD format bought and paid for during the time of their release 10 or so odd years ago. That being said, I had trouble following the directions for http://www.xcomufo.com/forums//index.php?a...;f=26&t=841 so I had to tinker a bit with it. What I wound up doing was combining the first method with a second method posted at http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?s...1482&st=720 in order to make the game work. I did everything in the first URL but found that even with the graphics fix, I still had the acid trip colors going on. To overcome this obstacle, I created a shortcut to DosBox on the desktop and made it point to the Apoc.bat app in the XCOMA directory. I changed the target for the DosBox shortcut on the desktop from "C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.70\dosbox.exe" to "C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.70\dosbox.exe" "C:\XCOMA\APOC.BAT" -fullscreen -conf "C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.70\dosbox.conf" -exit and now the game runs perfectly for me. No bugs so far. Again, I'm using the cd so I recommend this only for people who have the cd versions.

I have the CE version of apocalypse, (yes bought legitimately on CD)but errm the second site (abandonia) , is just the generic forum homepage. it doesnt actually lead to anything to do with apocalypse. i have done everything from the first site, but after 5-ten mins of play it with this the game freezes, and this makes it a pain in the arse rather than an enjoyable game. what did you do from the second site to fix all the shuckeroonies this game does?
