Did The Aliens Evolve On Earth?

I'm sure I could probably Google for this, I'm sure it's been chewed over like an old bone (but I'm a :rookie:) but I haven't seen any such threads. so here goes:

Did the ancestors of the Ethereals evolve on Earth?

Possibly some sort of dinosaurican/avian species that developed a technological civilization 65 million years ago, which was able to establish a small base at Cydonia... just in time so that they could enjoy the spectacle (with the best seats in the Solar System) of a ten kilometer wide planetoid smashing into the Earth.

The Sectoids would then be shorter and possibly less intelligent "replicants" of the Ethereals, manufactured for combat and labor; the Floaters would be cybernetic mollusks of some sort (squid?); the genetic material for the Mutons could have been derived from any of our primates during the last 60 million years; and I dunno about the Snakemen - maybe they're entirely synthetic?

(I understand that TFTD features a species which was explicitly derived from a dinosaurican species)

The more I think about it the more I feel that this scenario is way more plausible than the "extraterrestrial hypothesis" scenario, which would require

1) the independant evolution of an intelligent, technology using species (which shares a similar biology) on a *VERY* nearby planet in our Galaxy, and

2) interstellar travel.

The various aliens came to Mars billions of years ago, back when Mars was lush and green and Earth was still forming, from some mysterious homeplanet (that I think was going to be discussed in Alliance). They colonised Mars, but then used up all the natural resources, basically sucking it dry. Then, 65m years ago, they decided to travel to Mars' neighbour, Earth, as it had recently starting blossuming with life, but due to a solar flare, crashed in the process.

The T'leth, unable to send a transmission back to home, was for some reason just forgotten about. Anyways, the Martian aliens still visited Earth from time to time in small numbers, seeding the planet with new life and even genetically helping monkeys evolve to humans.

In the late 1900's, these Martians decided it was time to start reaping their harvest, and so came to Earth enmass. Unfortunately, the creatures they created along the way didn't want their home to be "harvested" and so formed a resistance.

Finally, as the Martians were defeated, they sent a transmission to "awaken" the T'leth. This leads into TFTD...

Wow, do we find this out in TFTD?

(I've actually never gotten to Cydonia, I always build 2 Avengers per base for a total of 16 and then I get bored with it before I can give my troops any decent psionic training... I feel it happening again right now unfortunately. And I've never played TFTD).

Anyway, we all know what happened 65 million years ago, why posit a Solar flare?

For what is said in Enemy Unknown, which is all I know, it was some foreign species, surely the brains who produced live in Mars first, and maybe millenia after that they did on Earth. Mars had is evolution and its creatures built a big civilization, in that time those alien species decided to "harvest" Mars, MArtians fought back but were annihilated.
Some millenia after that, probably when humans were not as developed as those martians when they fought back, they decided to harvest the Earth, considering that a less developed enemy would make a weaker one and so less dangerous than martians were (we can suppose defeating Martians was really hard and they were about to give up before total victory). But, they missed ther calculi. Or maybe it took them so long to recover from the martian war. Edited by Admiral Harkov
