Ok I applied on sourceforge to create our project. I will get an acceptance or rejection reply within 2 working days via email. Should be an acceptance reply, if not gotta reapply. :) Eitherway the rest of you need to get yourself a sourceforge account so I can add you to the project when we get accepted.

Woo! ;) Got accepted.. I'll add ya 5parrowhawk as soon as I figure out what I'm doing.. I'm new for this.. anyway here is the acceptance letter.

Your project registration for SourceForge has been approved.

Project Full Name: X-Com: Xenocide - Fight For Freedom

Project Unix Name: xenocide

CVS Server: cvs.xenocide.sourceforge.net

Shell/Web Server: xenocide.sourceforge.net

Your DNS will take up to a day to become active on our site.

While waiting for your DNS to resolve, you may try shelling into

shell.sourceforge.net and pointing CVS to cvs.sourceforge.net.

If after 6 hours your shell/CVS accounts still do not work, please

open a support ticket so that we may take a look at the problem.

Please note that all shell/CVS accounts are closed to telnet and only

work with SSH1.

Your web site is accessible through your shell account. Please read

site documentation (see link below) about intended usage, available

services, and directory layout of the account.

Please take some time to read the site documentation about project

administration (http://sourceforge.net/docs/site/). If you visit your

own project page in SourceForge while logged in, you will find

additional menu functions to your left labeled 'Project Admin'.

We highly suggest that you now visit SourceForge and create a public

description for your project. This can be done by visiting your project

page while logged in, and selecting 'Project Admin' from the menus

on the left (or by visiting

https://sourceforge.net/project/admin/?group_id=67048

after login).

Your project will also not appear in the Trove Software Map (primary

list of projects hosted on SourceForge which offers great flexibility

in

browsing and search) until you categorize it in the project

administration

screens. So that people can find your project, you should do this now.

Visit your project while logged in, and select 'Project Admin' from the

menus on the left.

Enjoy the system, and please tell others about SourceForge. Let us know

if there is anything we can do to help you.

Ok the way things are now at sourceforge we have 9 people with Admin access and 2 members. The people with Admin Access can edit their own permisions so core members feel free to do so. For Core members I went through the permisions and set your roles from undefined to All-Hands person. If you want to change this role do so. For DN I set his role to Doc Writer. The 2 non core developers I set their roles to developer right now.

And I'd sure like to see the progress :D

edit: my username is the same as here, lordt.

Guest Guest_gangsta_Why don't I ju
you don't need to be added to download the CVS version.. download is available for anybody. What people are being added to is the ability to update source.

Actually maybe if you are on the docteam.. didn't think about that before. Basically sourceforge is mainly used to let developers work on the same code at the same time. But it also stores the documentation there. So if you are on the document team I guess you can do the same thing to a lesser extent. Also there will be some datafiles in there eventually either written in XML or berkley's db2 which the non programmers could do.

After reading some CVS Docs i had find out that XML data files is better because we can create multiple versions and more than one person can work on it at the same time, instead the DB2 format must be flagged as binary it will not have a multiple versions CVS control over it... Just store and Overwrite.

ok :) then what about using soap? not suggesting all data should be transfered as XML but then there are things like ufopedia data and the such I think would be better transfered as XML. also XML can compressed using zlib and since it is a text file it would get pretty good compression.

Hee hee hee, Simon I forgot about that! That's a fake name too of course.

No I was refering to their email names, they actually used their ISP e-mail addresses!!! I used my bogus one from yahoo that is visible from these forums. Either that or my name really is Snakeman Chryssalid.

This is internet and I have a family, I'm gonna go bogus all the way until I feel I can trust people
