Mithrandel
Problem: Running XCOM-UFO under WindowsXP. Any time I ask the program to take a screenshot ([PrintScreen]), all I get is a black 320x240 box - the only pixels that are 'colored' are a few from the outside edge of the cursor. Anyone have any luck taking screenies from XCom? =/

Guest [email protected]
Yeah, I don't think XP lets you pipe anything with prtScr anymore. My first step to taking snapshots of xcom would be getting the thing windowed. I could not figure it out on XP. Can you get the game windowed? Cause if you can, you'll have no trouble taking screen shots. Many picture-edting programs let you take a shot of a window or the whole desptop. In my case, with Win98, I use LView (on the Misc. download page) and with xcom windowed, I take a shot of the whole desktop, crop the pic, and save it. I followed the same pattern when I took those shots of UFO2000 on my main page. So, can anyone windows xcom in XP? Please tell me how. And don't say "oh, just add -w to the end of the line in the properties!" cause it doesn't work. -Micah[email protected]www.xcomufo.com

Guest Guest
What sort of paint program are your trying to paste it into after you've copied it to the clipboard via key? I've always noticed that some paint type programs are terrible about retaining the palette correctly. Don't know if this is the problem in your case, but it usually seems to apply in many other cases that suffer the same kind of issue (screen caps etc). If you haven't tried this, one thing you can try is pasting it to Paint Shop Pro. You can try it with the free version. Paint shop pro seems to have always been real good with their palette. Whereas it's always been hit and miss at 256 colors with other ones.
