Its simple, get your rookies promoted to squadies and everything will go faster ^_^'..

Also, Ive never found any true reason for promoting someone.. it doesnt seem to give a moral boost to the troops or anything that Ive noticed.

The only reason I suppose is for making the Xcomufo web comics ^_^!

Squaddie Steel-CAPTAIN NKF WHAT DO I DO?!??

Captain NKF-*bzzzt*

Squaddie Steel-..Okay who shot the droid >_>.. Damn who is gonna give orders now?

Rookie Sumo- LOL I DO IT ROFLZ ZOMG SAUSAGE >:3

You keep using me as an example in your posts. What is up with that? At least I outrank you. That's something.

Anyhow, you're not gonna get many ranks with only 5 ppl. Try 12 or more, generally I have 3 or so sergeants, a crapload of squad leaders, and a few squaddies.

Higher ranks affect morale in much more severe ways, yes. Sergeant/commander NKF can help you out more here. All I know is if a high ranking guy dies, morale takes a huge hit.

That math basically says that, with your team, you'd need 3 sergeants to get a captain. (3 sergeants/1captain (0+1) = 3) (3>2)

I personally ignore the rank in all the games. :D Well, I'm not rebellious against those with authority or anything, but the in-game effects are negligable. High ranks are mainly useful if you're losing lots of soldiers every battle and you're not getting enough kills in between losses to negate the morale you've already lost.

Higher ranks mainly reduce the morale hit you get for any form of morale loss. It won't stop you from losing morale, but the effects will be reduced. However, if the high ranked unit gets killed, the morale hit will be bigger. It cuts both ways, really.

Anyway, Andrej22, how many soldiers in total do you have? Just the 10? I'd recommend hiring more soldiers and letting them get some experience if you want higher ranks to be available.

I don't remember what the requirements are for Commander, the highest rank you can achieve. In X-Com UFO and TFTD you only needed to have something like 30 units in total to have the position become available, but I don't know how it works in Apocalypse.

48 is too much. now i started playing from start because i was getting some errors when i enter alien UFO building. i use 4 soldiers which shoot and 1 that i only bring when i need to stun some new aliens. 1 question: is it possible to sell a base?

and i saw that diablo and megapol are in some kind of war, diablo raids their rescue station then megapol raids their 2 buildings.can i raid diablo in same time as megapol so we are fighting together?

Yes you can raid Diablo at the same time. Why wouldnt you? Logically it would mean less guards. Sadly it doesnt work like that xD!

I often hire 20 or so androids. (base guards and runners, basically anything I can ignore ^^'..)

I only ever have around 5 mutants. (dont care much for Psi)

and about 15 humans for the main troops. (or more, depends on how bad the casualties get, but its usually none so I mainly stay to 15.)

Sadly, you cant sell bases.

I know! Its a true shame.

Although you Can use an editor if you want your money back I suppose..o.O

Just set it back to a government owned building and it should work.

I cant say Ive ever tried selling it back in this way, but other than this there is no way :(

NRN_R_Sumo1, for someone who doesn't like psi, you have more hybrids than I usually do. ;) Well, active service hybrids, anyway. Not counting the "fillers-for-base-defence". Mind you, I prefer androids for base defence too. Less micromanagement with them.

I'd just buy lots of soldiers for base defence purposes, and as fill-ins when your core team is too injured that you want to give them a break by rotating the troops a bit. (crop rotation, anyone?)

The in-game politics goes a bit crazy the more you play the game. Sometimes you get seemingly innocent companies like the clinics raiding the government (strikes, pay cuts, you name it), or even Megapol and Marsec attacking each other. That one makes a bit more sense, being rivals in their firearms production.

where can i find that editor?

also i forgot to ask, why does transtellar goes unfrendly very often? and can i completely destroy cult or any other organization?

they seem to have 50000 agents. also attacking with crafts isnt very good cuz i get damage to city penalty.

Transtellar is the easiest company to anger. Not sure why, they just are. They also own the roads and people tubes. Meaning they've got more destructable property in the city, and the roads and tubes are very easy to destroy in air skirmishes.

As for destroying companies completely, no it's not possible. They'll just automatically rebuild at the end of the week. The cash levels indicated in the ufopaedia have no in-game effect.

Also, all the guards in the buildings are generated every time you attack it, so they have an infinite supply of troops. Same goes for the ships that get generated (as long as there are launch tubes) when you attack a building.

These odd inconsistencies are present because of the incomplete nature of the game.

I recruit a final total of 48 (4 teams of twelve) and never let anyone die. I end up with a one or two captains and a few sergeants. I've never got a colonel.

never got a colonel? relly?

I usually have a team of 10 (usually I hire as many as it takes to fill my current transport craft) and somehow I always get a colonel...don't remember the other ranks I usually get, cuz it is some time since I played last...but I'll start a new game asap and see where it takes me :P

Edit: oh, sorry...didn't see what part of the forum I was in, barely ever played X-Com 3...I was thinking X-Com 1...sorry

You should try the editor Apoc'd by J'ordos. Sorry Im busy and cant provide a link at the moment.

It does require a little thinking on your part and practice, as it isnt a fully completed editor due to Apocalypse being incomplete.

Alot of those ??? variables are random things that were probably not put into the game yet ^^'..

Remember though, for using it with this purpose you must load the save game from the editor, not directly to the organizations buildings :x

(this way you wont permanently change things around, but only in your save file)

Strategycore's file section for Apocalypse might be of some help to you.

As for the CE verson, the CE version of Apocalypse was just a copy of the game that came bundled in the X-Com Collectors Edition. Unlike UFO and TFTD which got a bit of an update to run on Windows, there were no significant changes for Apocalypse.

I think that was a difference between the UK and US releases. It's easy to change. You only need to replace the .pcx files that make up the title screen for either one to switch which main menu you have. I too am quite partial towards the blue '4-agents-on-rooftop-posing-with-their-weapons-screen-with-green-popper' one myself.

ok i got apoc'd. i changed research and manufacture of annihilator. it doesnt need any prerequisites to be researched and manufactured so i made 5 annihilators. the thing is when i go to quantum lab, there is annihilator and instead of COMPLETE it shows the line ---------- meaning it needs to be researched. but when i click it says its already researched. not really a big problem since i can already create them, but i want to make that complete also. i replaced edited files back with bak files that apocd created and it still shows this. is there some way to make the annihilator researchable?

also in editor, can i edit my agent's stats?

I'm pretty sure that you can't continue after the final mission is complete. It would sure be fun to have an aftermath section, where you could clean up the city.

X-Com Apocalypse has an internal screenshot taker. Press alt+P to take a screenshot.

It'll save the screenshot in the old .pcx bitmap format in your game directory. Convert it into a suitable web friendly format, like jpeg, gif or png and there you go.

In this case, a description of what you changed will also do.

No Sorrow there is not a weapon limit, its how many slots the vehicle has ^^'..

I added 20 bolters to a hawk for giggles. :D

It was QUITE a Destructive force as you may imagine. o.o'..

edit: Also you are correct with the 1-0 switch, 1 is on, 0 is off. common techy knowledge =o

There are actually a huge number of slots available but only the first three weapons in the list are usable. Shields and other add-ons however work fine. And yes, most of the slots that you don't have access to are filled with a dummy value to mark them as being filled, and are thus unusable.

This is just from my understanding having fiddled around with the equipment load outs in XED oh so many years ago. Triple Rumble Cannons are my guilty pleasure. Totally pants under AI control, but in manual control they can cause just so much havoc and can obliterate a battleship in a matter of seconds. If you pack on the shields, you can obliterate the city if you wanted to. Yes, felt guilty afterwards, but you have to do silly things once in a while. :D
